On 8/27/2023 NYC towing (employed by my apartment complex) forced me to illegally pay a “drop fee” of $120 for my car. He stated “because it is past 6PM”. Nowhere on the sign did it state I couldn’t park there past 6PM or that I needed a permit if I did so. He didn’t even state a permit was the issue, just the time. I saw him after he lifted my car before it was even hitched to the ties on either side. I told him to release my car and he refused to do so unless I Zelle him $120. It is illegal for him to require me to pay a drop fee if he hasn’t left the property. The car wasn’t even completely hitched. He told me if I didn’t pay him right then he would be taking my car to impound and it would be $350 there. I have video of him waiting on the phone to get his Zelle and him waiting multiple minutes to do so even after he got it and I was asking why he still hasn’t released my car. I want my money back for being illegally forced to pay $120 for a drop fee when he can not legally require me to pay it to release my car

On Saturday 08/12/23 at approximately 2015 hours, my fiancée and I stepped out of our apartment complex, while heading to our vehicle we noticed my 2012 Jeep Wrangler Maroon in color was missing from the parking space it was at earlier in the afternoon. We called the tow company NYC Towing (which is located 16 miles from our residence) and asked about the vehicle. The male who answered the phone, stated my vehicle had been towed away for “illegal parking” because it had been parked there for days and that it had a parking violation notice placed there by the apartment management office. I asked him when the vehicle was towed and he related it was at approximately 1920 hours on the same day 08/12/23 well after the hours of operation. The parking spot the vehicle was at is designated for future residents and is not to have any vehicles parked there Monday through Friday 0900 to 1800 hours per a written notice, located inside my vehicle, given to me by the management office. He stated it would be roughly $450 to retrieve it when I placed the call to the tow yard at 1928 hours. I stepped out of my place earlier in the day at approximately 1700 hours to dispose of some garbage, I passed by my vehicle and at this time there was nothing on my vehicle saying it needed to be moved. I attempted to rectify this misunderstanding however he promptly cut the call off before I could get a word out. I also sent him a text message to which his response was a thumbs up image.

I live in a apartment complex and my car is registered on the lease and had a visible parking permit clearly in the window the towing company said the permit looked fake made two reasons why it looked fake to him I contact the office manager Lucy the following Monday and showed her the receipt for the tow and she said they shouldn’t of towed my car. I contact the towed company through a text and asked for a copy of the photo that the driver supposedly took of the permit and the photo was never sent my car was towed on a Friday it was no signs posted about cars being towed on Friday once I complained about it Friday Sunday night around 6pm a tow truck came through and posted signs I have pictures of all the signs that were posted and the times NYC palm desert basically stole my car and lied to me about the reason and I feel the Desert Meadows apartments in Indio California is in business with them targeting there own residents.
