Purchased a lemon Maytag washer from Lowes. Purchased extended warranty and this company cannot repair. We want a new exact replacement washer asap.Business Response

Hello,
We installed a control board which was defective and has been re-ordered. Deciding on a replacement unit is the responsibility of the extended warranty. not us. We do not decide nor do we replace/sell appliances. We only repair. This review should go to extended warranty, not us, for the customers request.

I filed a work request through ******************** (AHS) to get my refrigerator and stove repaired. My stove was not lighting up a flame, a fridge was not making ice, and the other fridge was not cooling. AHS assigned the repairs to Appliance Repair Experts. They came out, and diagnosed the issues as to why my stove was not working, the electrode tips (tips that provide spark to ignite gas) were bad. The parts had to ordered. When the parts arrived they came out to replace the electrodes, and it the process of replacing them their technician had a difficult time doing the work, and it the process dropped and broke the touch panel for the stove, the panel was working well but the tech dropped it and it broke. They probably charged the insurance for this. They ordered another touch panel, came back out, and in the process the stove continued to not work properly, and one of the k**** was not working. The touch panel was replaced, and the stove still was not working. After the touch pad was replaced, and supposedly adjusted, I called Appliance experts to tell them that it smelled like gas leak, that there was too much gas coming out, (flames were high), and that I couldn't use all the burners because it made like a little explosion because of the gas leak. Never said don't use it and they couldn't come out. I called again for them to come back out, and they deemed the stove inoperable after their last visit. Appliance experts limited knowledge on how to repair my stove properly escalated the amount of work it needed for repairs and aggravated the issue. I just needed my stove to turn-on on its own and not need matches to light. Now, I havent had a stove and I NEED one. AHS is not wanting to replace the parts that have escalated this issue because it's not normal wear and tear thanks to Appliance repair experts. My stove worked good enough, if I would have known that this was going to happen I would have just kept using lighters to light it.Initial Complaint

The service technician came by my house yesterday and did not properly diagnose my washing machine I had told him that to make sure that he reads the default codes on the machine he never did so there was a language barrier that he cannot understand me or I understood him I called the company's main number and made them aware of this situation I am submitting along with the problem that the machine is having what they told me from the business that the technician only said that the suspension needs to be replaced but my transmission on the washer is going out as well and I could not communicate that to the technician because of the language barrier thank you *****************************.Business Response

Hello,
I am unsure what this customer wants, we were out yesterday and diagnosed it, this is through the insurance. We are a licensed appliance repair company and our diagnosis is that the shocks need to be replaced which causes the unit to go off balance which affects the transmission. This is the process that this repair needs to go through. We have not even started the repair, the claim has been open one day and the customer is submitting a complaint instead of calling and speaking with the office. If he/she is unhappy with the diagnosis (not a repair yet) then they can contact their insurance and request a second opinion. The error codes, mean off balance. Balance have to do with shocks. If there are more error codes, the technician was unable to duplicate that issue which again is not something we can repair, we are only allowed to repair what we can diagnose and an error we can repeat.

To whom it may concern at the company I did call in and ask for I diagnosis I also told you guys that the tech that you guys sent out did not speak English he spoke a foreign language that was a big issue because there was a language barrier I understand that the shocks need to be replaced but you guys refused to do the service as of what AHS told me that's why I had submitted this and I stick and stand behind what I said best regards **************************;Business Response

Hello,
This was submitted before we refused to do the repair, it was refused because this was submitted so you can get a second opinion since you do not agree with ours. That is what your insurance is there for. If your diagnosis is different from ours and youre coming for our company a day after being out and not even giving us a chance, we have the right to transfer your work order and refuse service. We do not want to service a customer who does not have faith in our company before even giving us a chance to do the work. Not everyone you meet will be able to speak English, his job is not to speak English but to repair your appliance. Everyone who comes to ***************** needs to work, whether they speak English or not. We wont have racism in our company. Our entire office staff speaks English and can answer any questions you have, had you given them a chance.

- The transaction date is 09/05/2023.- No money was paid to the business by me. The business is paid through a contract I have with American Home Shield (AHS).- The business committed to providing an honest evaluation of the repair needed for my microwave and to repair the microwave.- Dispute is that Appliance Repair Experts (ARE) was not truthful about the cause of the microwave vent grill breaking. ARE told AHS that I had intentionally broken the microwave vent grill when the cause of of this type of breakdown is by nature of the products design, as documented in other complaints of the vent grill breaking based on the manufacturer and model number of the microwave found on the internet. Also, there is no preventative maintenance that can be performed on a microwave and I have nothing to gain by breaking my microwave since I have to pay monthly premiums to AHS, a service fee to AHS of $100 per visit and I face higher premiums and/or cancellation of my policy by AHS if I file too many repair requests. - The business was not contacted by me since ARE did not give me a reason of why the microwave broke. All ARE said is that AHS would probably not cover the repair.- The work order invoice number is ****** (last number may be 0).Business Response

Hello,
as the customer has stated this is a home warranty claim and the home warranty decides coverage. Our report stays the same, the vent grille is a cover that if not touched does not fall off on its own. It does however fall off if it is moved incorrectly during cleaning. Also, this is a cosmetic piece that does not affect operation of the unit which is also typically not covered under home warranty but the customer would need to ask AHS about that. The customer has a right to ask for a second opinion from AHS if they do not agree with the diagnosis and if the second company finds the same thing they will be charged, if not then they will not be charged. Coverage is out of our control and our diagnosis stands the customer must contact their warranty. This claim has been closed and reversal is not possible

I am rejecting this response because:
Appliance Repair Experts (ARS) response, in part, is: "as the customer has stated this is a home warranty claim and the home warranty decides coverage...". My response, this is only partially true. American Home Shield (AHS) makes a decision based on the input from ARS. Which, as stated in my original complaint, is not truthful. I did not intentionally break the microwave vent assembly and it cannot be proven that I did. (1) The microwave vent assembly opens when the microwave is turned on and closes when the microwave is turned off. (2) There is no preventative maintenance that can be performed on a microwave. (3) The microwave sits on top of a 4 burner stove which generates intense heat. When the vent assembly fell apart I noticed that all parts were made of plastic, except for one spring. Heat, over time, will weaken and break plastic parts which is a contributing factor in this case. (4) An internet search (available upon request) shows that this type of problem is common given the make and model of this microwave. Points 2, 3 and 4 are what caused the microwave to break.ARS states "the vent grille is a cover that if not touched does not fall of on its own. It does however fall off if it is moved incorrectly during cleaning." My response, the vent grille is an assembly that consists of a stainless steel cover that hides the inner workings that are made of plastic with at least one spring attached. The only time the vent cover is touched is during cleaning. And even then the microwave is off and the vent cover is not moving but is fully closed. Touching in and of itself is not enough to break the vent assembly.
ARS states "...this is a cosmetic piece....not covered under home warranty...". AHS provides three plans Silver, Gold and Platinum. I have Platinum cover which states in part "Covered Item: Built-In-Microwaves; What is covered. All parts and components of built-in microwave ovens. What is Not Covered: Not applicable".
ARS needs to do the right thing and admit they erred in this case and repair my microwave.

I understand your frustration and want to have your unit fixed which again I will say you need to contact your insurance for a second opinions. Yes, AHS has different layers of coverage but if you call them they will tell you pieces that do not affect the operation or a unit are not covered whether normal usage or not, which the vent grille cover is just that. It does not matter the level of coverage you have.
I do not know your coverage though, that is just typically how it works in their contracts, you would have to question them on that. However, ************** diagnosed it as not normal usage for the vent grille cover to break and that is what we reported to your insurance upon inspection of your unit, this is why you have a right for a second opinion to over turn that diagnosis. With us, the work order has been closed on our end and AHS end and that can not be altered once a denial is placed. You can still ask for a second opinion by calling them. AHS will assist in placing that work order for you.
i understand what you are reading online but the online forums did not diagnose your appliance and what was diagnosed for someone else may not be what was diagnosed for you.
I apologize that you are upset but unfortunately the diagnosis stays as is and there is no way to change it as that would be falsifying information as that was not our expert opinion.

I hired Appliance Repair Experts to repair my dryer on May 19 they came in to service the dryer and the repair cost $476. I was assured I would get years out it, less than 5 months later its broken in the same issue. On my bill under warranty it doesnt say anything about 30 days, their website also says something entirely different plus the person I spoke to on the phone originally said that if its the part again it could possibly be free. I didnt get a phone call from the technician after I was assured he would call me back, I called them 3 times and go a call back from the person answering the phone. They said the technician would call me again, 3 hours later the person that called back first called and said that the part isnt under warranty anymore. $476 for just under 5 months? Thats no fair at all when a new one it half this cost. I have the bill were warranty doesnt say anything about terms or length and now I have a broken dryer again. I am gutted that this is what they have done to me and I truly trusted them. Their website preaches about customer service, business that rip people off or scam like this shouldnt be in business.Business Response

We originally opened a claim to fix our washing machine through our insurance company, ****’s Protection Plan, June 30th 2023. ****’s Protection Plan then continued to hire an outside repair company, Appliance Repair Experts. Over the course of the next three weeks, my work order was canceled by Appliance Repair Experts, due to a technician, making a claim on the wrong contract. There was major confusion between Appliance Repair Experts and ****’s Protection Plan. I called Appliance Repair Experts on the morning of July 18, 2023. I spoke with the representative and supervisor Karla, who was very unprofessional and gave me no resolution. Once I told her she had a poor attitude she hung up the phone on me. When I called back, they told me that they have canceled my work order completely, they would no longer fix my washing machine.
I believe the circumstances are extremely unfair. I have been without any resolution to repairing my washing machine for almost 3 weeks now. Appliance Repair Experts are to blame for the confusion that began all this. I am still unclear why they did not file the claim properly in the first place. Secondary, ***** had no right to cancel my entire work order once I told her she had a poor attitude. She needs to take responsibility for her own actions and be held accountable. When I asked ***** for the phone number or email address to her supervisor or owner of the company, she did not comply. She’s leaving me with no other resolution other than to file a claim through the Better Business Bureau since she will not put me in contact with the owner of the company.Business Response

Hello,
We were out on 6/28 and diagnosed a washer needing a drain pump assembly. 6/29 we submitted a report to ****s protection plan that the parts were no longer available on out end and on 6/30 we called the customer with an update letting them know their insurance is locating parts. The customer says the insurance can not locate her claim and called out office blaming us for the issue. The customer was rude to our office manager and belittled her by saying she has a shitty attitude when all the information we can give her is the information we have. This claim is covered by her warranty, we diagnosed and submitted a report. It is up to her warranty to approve/deny/locate parts when they are not available. They were working on this, our part of the job was done unless the part was located, then we would go install it. As far as the dryer goes, we ordered and installed a door seal. The customer is rude and is going after the wrong company, she nerds to contact her warranty. We do not work for the customer but the warranty, what they do on their end is not under out control .

I am rejecting this response because:
Appliance Repair Experts is taking no responsibility for their fault in this matter. My insurance through ****’s Protection Plan clearly stated that either a representative or a technician within the company (Appliance Repair Experts) put our claim for our washing machine under the contract/claim of our dryer. Due to their mistake, our insurance company, ****’s Protection Plan, had no other option other than to cancel the entire order. Once again, I had called and spoke with ***** multiple times over the course of three business days regulating this issue. It was her responsibility to contact our insurance company to clear up this matter and resolve the issue. Even if it was up to my insurance company to find the part needed to complete the job, Appliance Repair Experts mistake regarding our claims/contracts between the washer and dryer is what caused this confusion with result leading to my claim being cancelled through my insurance and leaving us once again with a cancelled claim through the insurance company. Being a supervisor and manager of a company, you would think she would call my insurance company and clear up the matter. She did not do so. Not only does she not do so, she had a very, and extremely poor attitude, and left me with no resolution whatsoever. I was communicating between ****’s Protection Plan and appliance repair experts almost every day for over a week, I did everything in my power to try to solve the problem. As a supervisor or manager, whatever ***** claims to be, she did an extremely poor non-efficient job. Not only did she not do her job, she had a very degrading and “your problem not mine” attitude towards me over the phone. Once I called her out on her poor attitude, she decided to take it upon herself to cancel the entire work order after we have been waiting over three weeks for this company to repair our washer. Their employees, specifically, ***** lack proper and efficient communication. She had no right to cancel our entire order. If she was so offended by me telling her she had such a poor attitude, she could’ve got the owner or a different supervisor to handle the situation since she obviously lacks the professionalism and training to handle such situations. This company and employee need to be held accountable for their actions that contributed to this matter.Business Response

Appliance repair experts did not do so. Your insurance which you call "****s" but is actually Assurant, sends us a work order with an appliance already listed. This appliance is a "washer" not dryer. The model number is ***********/US which is a washer, not a dryer and the work order we received is attached to a model number. I am not sure what your insurance is telling you BUT, we submitted the authorization request to them on the correct work order that they sent over to us. After explaining this to the customer over and over they continued to repeat the same thing about a dryer which we have no idea what she is talking about. We worked on a dryer as well, on a separate work order and repaired it. That work order was for a dryer model number ***********/A3. This work order in question is and has always been for a washer. Assurant sends work orders over for the appliance, not for the property therefore, we can not submit anything on the "wrong appliance" as the customer states. The people the customer speaks to and the people our appliance company speaks to are two different departments and we do not call customer service as we are not the customer. I understand that is what the customer wants but that is their responsibility to deal with the insurance, on our end everything was fine and the appliance was correct, the reason we cancelled the work order is the customers poor attitude. Our manager tried to explain to her multiple times that it was out of our control and she still does not understand, there is nothing else that can be done here. Our company has certain protocols that we follow with our contracts (assurant is one) and we follow those protocols. We can not do something different just because a customer is asking us to, we work direct for the insurance. The customer service department who she speaks to alwasys calls us when a customer calls with questions and we relay information, we do not contact them as they are not our contact provided by the warranty, we speak to authorizations/claims not customer service. We refuse to service and she can contact Assurant to get another company out.Initial Complaint

On 11-17-22 Appliance Repair Experts visited our house at **-*** **** ****** Trail, La ******, CA ***** to inspect an inoperative Kitchenaid 42" built-in side by side Refrigerator/Freezer.
The repair quote was for $3008.86 which I accepted and signed in agreement with the estimate.
The repair visit was four weeks later due to part availability.
On December 14, 2022 three technicians from Appliance Repair Experts performed repairs on the Kitchenaid
unit reinstalled it and told me to leave it running overnight and check for operation in the morning.
The next morning both the refrigeration and freezer compartments were running quietly at the recommended temperatures.
However the icemaker was not making ice and the chilled water dispenser was dry. It appeared that the water supply valve to the unit was shut off. The water dispenser was operating and providing water prior to the repair without any leaks.
A follow-up inspection by Appliance Repair Experts confirmed that the water supply was indeed turned off. The investigation by Appliance Repair Experts management determined that after the repairs were performed that the 1/4 in. O.D. Tubing water supply line was damaged and they would not reconnect the water line.
I was present the entire time (nearly six hours) and live a couple of miles from both Lowe's and Home Depot which stock ice maker supply tubing. It is a fairly common supply item for refrigerator repairs.
Since January I have been calling weekly, several times I was told the manager would call back, but o far hasn't.
This month when I call I am transferred to a dead message service, unable to contact their office. They appear to have decided to stonewall my inquiries.
This repair invoice was over $3000, however it is incomplete for lack of $15 worth of tubing. Since it is a built-in unit it requires a two person crew to remove the unit from the cabinetry and install the ice maker line.
Probably four hours of labor for work that should have been done.Business Response

Hello,
I received this complaint and looked into the order. It looks like the customer was scheduled in January and for whatever reason the work order was cancelled. I have reinstated the work order to schedule for 2 technicians to come out and replace the line. I apologize and this will be taken care of and customer will get a call today to schedule an appointment. This was our fault, and we dropped the ball, miscommunication between office and technician.

Purchase washer at Lowes with protection Plan in 2019 5 year protection and 10 year parts and basket warranty. Filed a claim and Lowes contracts out with Appliance Repair Experts. They sent out a service repair man on 01/13/2023 and without conducting a proper inspection of the washer left the home and filed a denial claim on abuse and misuse therefore the washer was not repaired. I went out to the business. The door says not open to the general public and they do not answer the listed phone number. This company has a lot of prior negative prior reviews for not performing or ding their job. This has the tell tale signs of a scam company.Business Response

Hello,Yes, we are not open to the public. We have a phone number which is ###-###-#### which is always open for phone calls Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm. If you call and stay on hold someone will answer. We have a call cue and hundreds of calls coming in per day with dispatchers on standby who answer them. For your repair your warranty denied your repair due to their being coins inside of the drum of your unit. When you turn it on, the noise is due to your drum and motor failing due to not emptying pockets before washing clothes. This is not covered by the warranty as it is not normal use. You need to clean out trash and coins from pockets prior to placing clothes inside of the unit. Small items like coins get into the drum/motor causing noise and causing the unit to short. Coverage questions should be directed towards your insurance. We repair what the insurance covers, we report what we find and they make a decision. I understand that you are not happy with that decision but we think the decision is correct and your unit should not be covered for repair as it was user error not normal usage.Thank you,Appliance Repair ExpertsInitial Complaint

My home warranty contacted this company to fix a leak on my refrigerator. They came and immediately said nothing was wrong with my refrigerator. A week or so later my freezer is unthawing all of frozen foods and the refrigerator part is warming. I called again and was sent back to this company for a recall. The scheduler was the rudest nastiest person refusing to allow me to speak with a manager after telling me they can’t come back out for another week. I explained it was my refrigerator and all my food was gonna be lost and she indicated that wasn’t her problem she’s just the scheduler. Then she asked me was I refusing the appointment for 7 days from today. This place should not be in business I paid the service fee and the guy did absolutely nothing on the first visit. Had he checked my refrigerator what I’m experiencing today could have been avoided. Home warranty are a scam and should not be in operation. They alway get subpar repair people.Business Response

Hello,This is a home warranty customer, they do not pay us anything. They pay a deductible which goes to their insurance who we collect the payment for. There is no refund to be given. The issue reported was that the unit was leaking, there was no failure with the unit leaking, The issue reported now is that the unit is not cooling, unrelated to the first complaint. Yes, our schedule is a week out but, the customer can go with a different company and can contact her insurance to do so, they do not have to stay with us. Our availability is as is, we do not have any other availability unless we have a cancelation, all of our technicians are at max capacity due to the holiday season all companies are much busier at the end of the year.In this case, i apologize that the customer is not satisfied but no resolution can be met here. The customer does not pay us for a repair and has many other companies to choose form that her insurance works with.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because: This company was made aware of a problem with the refrigerator on December 2nd . The technician did nothing to check the refrigerator. Absolutely nothing!!! had he checked the unit the problem would not had exacerbated to its current condition. I didn’t call them for service the warranty company selected them I had no part in who Old Republic chose. I paid my check to Appliance Repsir Expert not the warranty company. Had I selected a company I can assure it would not have been Appliance Repair Experts. If you check the reviews and yelp for this place and it fails on all reviews. They rank a solid (1)!! Every review was negative!! So poor service and poor customer service is the norm for this place. It’s amazing they are still in business!! They are not accredited by the BBB rated a solid “F”My next report will be to the Consumer Protection division. As a consumer no one should be subjected to this poor quality of service and the unacceptable unprofessional behavior of its employees. I will warn all of my contacts in this city and neighboring city to avoid at all cost!!Initial Complaint

Company went for a service call at a rental company that I own. They shared over $300 after looking at the issue, and never returned back to complete the job. I tried calling the business multiple time and never heard anything. Therefore I had to call another company to do the job. They never communicated to me a time for arrival of new parts, and never picked up my call. When i tried calling from a different number, they finally picked up letting me know that the order was cancelled and they will be no refund.
They are very unprofessional and unreliable.Business Response

Why choose a BBB Accredited Business?BBB Business Profiles may not be reproduced for sales or promotional purposes.
BBB Business Profiles are provided solely to assist you in exercising your own best judgment. BBB asks third parties who publish complaints, reviews and/or responses on this website to affirm that the information provided is accurate. However, BBB does not verify the accuracy of information provided by third parties, and does not guarantee the accuracy of any information in Business Profiles.
When considering complaint information, please take into account the company's size and volume of transactions, and understand that the nature of complaints and a firm's responses to them are often more important than the number of complaints.
BBB Business Profiles generally cover a three-year reporting period, except for customer reviews. Customer reviews posted prior to July 5, 2024, will no longer be published when they reach three years from their submission date. Customer reviews posted on/after July 5, 2024, will be published indefinitely unless otherwise voluntarily retracted by the user who submitted the content, or BBB no longer believes the review is authentic. BBB Business Profiles are subject to change at any time. If you choose to do business with this company, please let them know that you checked their record with BBB.
As a matter of policy, BBB does not endorse any product, service or business. Businesses are under no obligation to seek BBB accreditation, and some businesses are not accredited because they have not sought BBB accreditation. BBB charges a fee for BBB Accreditation. This fee supports BBB's efforts to fulfill its mission of advancing marketplace trust.
