I bought a piece of equipment through an auction in ******* ** on 9/30/2021. I contracted Navis Pack & Ship in ******* to pick and ship the item to me. I did not know the specifics of the equipment and was given an estimate of $797.27. Knowing the rough weight and dimensions of the item, the estimate seemed to be on a higher side and we requested if they reconsidered their quote. They told us that they have to palletize the equipment and ship it using fright company. After they picked the equipment they gave me a call to charge the CC, I authorized the quoted amount but they charged me $1,046.66. When I asked about the extra charge they told me that was for a liftgate due to my address being residential. (this is common). It was a month after when I got my package delivered and it was a small cardboard box that weighs 17 lbs and measures 17x16x13 inches. I am attaching the pictures of the item here. They overcharged me a whole lot for a package that could have been delivered through *** or ***** and the packaging was a cardboard box and not palletized. After emailing back and forth, they asked me for the shipping receipt and said they will refund me the extra $249.39 they charged for a liftgate. I feel like they have robbed me and charged me extra money because I was not present in ********** to verify the weight and size of the box. They claimed that the weight of the box was 50 lbs and it was palletized, which is not true. If they sent a box that small through a freight company then it was merely a fault at their end or a tactic to charge me more. The person I spoke to on the phone initially agreed that this should have been sent through **** I buy and get equipment delivered on a regular basis and I have never had an experience like this.
