      There is no way for me cancel my account without calling. In the year of 2024, canceling any type of online membership should be very simple. No, in order to cancel services, we as customers, have to wait until they open PACIFIC TIME to cancel. That is completely bogus. Canceling a membership should be as easy as signing up for it. There is NOTHING easy about canceling. This is a scam company

      Our findings show that on 01/10/2024, the customer successfully enrolled in a 7-day $1.00 trial membership to Rentbeforeowning.com.  The customer did not contact us during the trial period to cancel the membership.  As per the membership agreement that the customer acknowledged, we charged the credit card on file for the monthly membership.  All of these details, including trial length, trial price, the monthly membership fee, and cancellation process, are clearly stated on the signup page, on our Terms and Conditions page, and in the Welcome Email that is sent out immediately upon sign up.  


      In the complaint, the customer stated that there is no way to cancel the account online and that our hours of operation are inconvenient.  Our customers can cancel the account on the Contact Us page.  In addition, customers may contact us via email to cancel the account.  Lastly, customers may cancel by calling our #800 and using our interactive voice response system. We are conveniently open Monday to Friday, 7:00am - 11:00pm EST and Saturday to Sunday, 11:00am - 6:30pm EST A


      On 4/5/2024, the customer called to cancel the account.  The account was canceled.  The customer also sent an email requesting cancellation,  We had no previous request for cancellation from the customer. In our experience, we find that customers often have other accounts with companies offering similar services. We believe that she may have canceled a different account. Since the account was canceled as requested, no further action is required..

      Our findings show that on 02/04/2024, the customer successfully enrolled in a 7-day $1.00 trial membership to Rentbeforeowning.com.  The customer did not contact us during the trial period to cancel the membership.  As per the membership agreement that the customer acknowledged, we charged the credit card on file for the monthly membership.  All of these details, including trial length, trial price, the monthly membership fee, and cancellation process, are clearly stated on the signup page, on our Terms and Conditions page, and in the Welcome Email that is sent out immediately upon sign up.  


      On 03/03/2024 the customer called to cancel but called regarding another site membership they had with Yourscoreandmore.com.  The representative immediately canceled that membership per the customer’s request.  The customer never mentioned his Rentbeforeowning.com account. Yourscoreandmore.com provides customers with credit monitoring and protection services and Rentbeforeowning.com gives the customer access to Rent to Own and other Real Estate listings nationwide.  These services are not related and handled by different teams.  On 04/01/2024, the customer called Rentbeforeowning.com to cancel.  The customer’s account was immediately canceled.


      The customer stated that we repeatedly charged his credit card every month. The customer was never charged a monthly subscription fee for either account.  The monthly subscription fee was declined.  Since the customer was never charged a subscription fee, we consider the matter closed.

      I did sign up for the free trial a few months ago. I attempted to cancel before thw trial was up but could not get ahold of anyone because it kept saying I couldn't sign in. After finally finding their number, I called and attempted to cancel. I was told I would get a cancelation email although they refused to refund even though their site is misleading and hard to navigate or find contact info. I never received the email and come to find out they've still been charging me every month! Rentbeforeowning is a scam business! 3 unauthorized payments of $49.60!

      The customer called our service center on 01/18/2024 to cancel and requested a refund after the trial period ended and the monthly billing had already commenced. Unfortunately, our representative did not cancel the account and the monthly billing continued.


      On 03/25/2024, we canceled the account and credited the 3 charges. We apologize for any inconvenience and have provided our representative with the appropriate feedback and training.

      I have tried to cancel this subscription numerous times. The website never gives me a phone number to call. Only an email address to email. I have emailed saying I want my acct cancelled.       On 01/31/24 we received a BBB complaint the customer filed on 01/31/24. The customer’s membership was canceled and a refund was issued immediately.


      In summary, we have no reason to doubt the validity of the charges.  The customer admits to signing up for the trial and did not contact us prior to the end of the trial.  During the registration process, a customer acknowledges the terms and conditions and provides billing information.  This customer has already been refunded, therefore no further action is required.  Please contact us if you need further information.

      I was notified this house listing was posted on rentbeforeowning.com. The listing states the homeowners missed a house payment and the house is in pre-foreclosure. However, this is a false statement and fraudulent listing. This is my family's home. This house is paid off, no payments were missed, they are NOT in pre-foreclosure and they have no plans on ever moving. I have contacted the company 2 times to get the listing removed from their fraudulent website but have not received a response.       Rent before owning company called me yesterday 12/12/2023 saying they were in the process of removing the listing.  I did check the website and the house was still on there as of last night.  I checked the website this morning and I do not see the listing.  This complaint is now resolved.  However, I will continue to check the website periodically and if I see it again I will file a new complaint.  Thank you BBB for your assistance in getting this resolved.

      Thank you for the opportunity to address the complaint raised by our customer.  The customer enrolled in a 7-day $1 trial offer to our program on 6/12/2023.  After the 7-day trial period expired, we subscribed the customer to the service as per the terms and agreements that the customer acknowledged during registration.


      The customer states he does not have an account with us in the complaint.  To register for the trial, the customer must provide a name, email address, telephone number, and a valid credit card, including CVV.  The name, email address, and telephone match the information listed on the complaint.  In addition, the bank validated the credit card.  We can only access the customer's personal or financial information if provided during registration.


      The customer also states he discussed canceling and refunding the account with one of our representatives.  Our telephone log shows the customer contacted us twice on 10/12/2023 and once on 11/4/2023.  In all cases, the call was disconnected before speaking to a representative.  Furthermore, we record 100% of our calls for quality assurance purposes and cannot find any recording of an interaction with us.  Lastly, when our representative accesses an account, the system automatically generates a notation indicating who has accessed the account.   There were no notations indicating that a representative had accessed the customer account.

      Although the charges are valid, we have refunded the last two months as a one-time courtesy. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.

      We signed up for this service in July. Attempted to cancel on numerous occasions after realizing that the properties listed were all bogus. Tried canceling on line but after hitting the cancel button over and over it continues to give a failure to cancel message. Finally able to reach someone by phone. I HAD TO REPEAT 30-40 TIMES AT THE TOP OF MY LUNGS TO CANCEL, ONLY TO KEEP HEARING ADDITIONAL OFFERS FOR DISCOUNTS. IT TOOK 30 MINUTES OF REPEATED REQUESTS BEORE THE FINALLY AGREED TO CANCEL

      Thank you for the opportunity to address the complaint raised by our customer.  The customer enrolled in a 7-day $1 trial offer on 6/24/2023 to RentBeforeOwning.  As per our terms and agreement, he was charged a monthly fee of $49.60 after the trial expired.  We require each member to check a box stating that he/she has read and agreed to the terms of use and pricing information prior to registering the account.  In addition, we require all members to provide their full name, home address, and complete credit card information, including CVV (number located on the back of the card).  The bank authorized the payments since the information provided matched the records on file.  After registering the account, we sent a Welcome Letter immediately to the email address provided.

      On 10/7/2023, the customer contacted us and disconnected after waiting thirty seconds.  The customer called again thirty minutes later and spoke with our agent for 5.38 minutes.  The customer requested our agent to cancel the account.  Our agent attempted to share the benefits of the service and offered the customer a subscription discount. The customer became very upset and made it very clear that he had no interest in retaining the account. Unfortunately, our agent continued to educate the customer on our retention offers.  We have provided the agent with the appropriate feedback and training.

      Although the monthly subscription fees were valid, we have provided the customer with a one-time courtesy credit. We apologize for any inconvenience.
