We began communication with Chef Kate Myer in early June 2025 and completed her food questionnaire on June 7, 2025. Our initial discussions included portioning meals for a household with different body types, with one member specifically needing to monitor their weight. After waiting four months, the arrangement ended on October 1, 2025, just ONE WEEK BEFORE her scheduled start date, when the subject of portioning was revisited.Chef ****** website advertises, ************* meal preparation includes menu planning with meals created for your specific dietary needs, grocery shopping, meal prep, portioning, cleaning and instructions for reheating."Based on this and initial phone conversations with her, we understood portioning to mean professional judgment in dividing meals based on our needs that we had already discussed. In the week prior to the start of her first day, Chef **** revisited the matter of portioning stating her approach to portioning requires clients to provide feedback on hunger. She determined our expectations were not aligned and declined to ********** addition, it was disappointing that she was unwilling to work even with guidance from a licensed nutritionist we had hired. This review documents the timeline, communications, and how her service differs from what is advertised on her website.

My service does not differ from what is advertised and this is the first time anyone has interpreted "portioning" to mean that I can determine how much a client should be eating. I have always offered portioning of meals which means I am putting prepped foods in containers in the amount each client would like and I am clear about the importance of client feedback in regards to food portions in my free consultation calls. This was misinterpreted by **** ****** to mean that I would be portioning based on body type which I have never offered as I am very clear that I am not a nutritionist or dietician. I also communicated that I was fully booked but would let her know when I had an opening which likely wouldn't be till late summer. I continued to follow up and and on 8/4/25 let her know I would have dates available in October. On 9/24/25 (13 days prior to our scheduled start date) I emailed to request that she show me the portion sizes that worked best for her to which she responded that she didn't feel comfortable doing that. I clarified once again that I am not a nutritionist or dietician. And on 9/25/25 via email I, in detail, clarified what portioning means in regards to what is stated on my website and that client feedback is crucial and once again tried to ensure we were on the same page before proceeding. **** ****** did not respond to this email. I emailed again on 10/1/25 to confirm that her needs were aligned with what I am able to offer within the scope of my education and experience. She responded to my second email to let me know that she expected me to determine the portions and relayed her communication with her nutritionist "That said, they also agree that a professional chef should be able to provide the fundamental portions in regards to our body types". I clarified once again that I am not a nutritionist. I was absolutely willing to follow her nutritionist's guidelines which in regards to food quantities were not provided. I determined that it was not within me or the clients best interests to do business as I could not provide 100% satisfaction. Furthermore I know many private chefs in town that don't feel comfortable determining how much their clients should be eating. It's unfortunate that **** ****** had this experience, however if I had worked for her and accepted money to provide services that would have not been within my integrity as a business owner.
