I made a one time purchase of a trial version of their software August 8th. My credit card was charged on the 8th. Then it was charged on the 15th for the same amount. Then it was charge on 22nd for an entirely different amount. Further I was charged for a full monthly subscription on September 5th which I never authorized. I only purchased the trial version. I contacted the business about the charges. He reversed the September charge but not the full amount. He finally reversed the other charges but insists I have to pay his processing fees for charges that were not authorized.

All software orders represent the customer agreeing to a renewing subscription, which can be cancelled at any time. The details of the subscription renewal are shown with the dates and amounts clearly shown on the Details link for the order as shown in the attached screenshot.
These subscription details are also shown in every receipt email sent to a customer.

Every receipt email also includes a "Manage" link where the customer can Upgrade or Cancel the subscription.

So in this situation the customer says that they couldn't use the software from the very beginning because they didn't have the password to the original database file. This problem concerns me because I could have helped the customer resolve that issue - but instead they didn't contact me for assistance until many weeks later. By working together, submitting a support request by email or online chat session - we could have resolved that issue from the very beginning.

It is true, that payment processing companies used to refund 100% of the purchase price. However, the payment processing companies now charge their processing fees even for refunds - so a business cannot refund money they have not received because it was retrained by the payment processing company. This customer has already received their refunds to the extent possible. This procedure change started with companies like ****** (see this video from ***** ********: ****************************), and other companies including ********** have now adopted the same policy. Therefore, this policy change is noted on the legal page of the .com Solutions Inc. website.

I am rejecting this response because:

This response does not explain the extra credit charges. I only agreed to pay for a trial version of the software. One time. There are multiple unexplained credit card charges on my account as shown by the screenshots.

When I first noticed the large charge in September I contacted the business right away. He still claims I am on the hook for processing charge for the September charge and the unexplained other charges on my card. He has refused to explain the other charges or refund them.

Further I maintain that in the process of purchasing the trial version there was no notification I would be charged for a much more expensive monthly charge automatically the next month. I maintain purchasing a trial version means purchasing a trial version on.

Posting terms and conditions on his web site does not mean he does not have to meet standards regarding credit card charges.  He needs to refund the unexplained credit card charges .

    Sincerely,

It may come as surprise to you, but most software and services provided today start out with a free or low cost Trial which automatically turns into a full-priced product. My products work the same way. I provide a low cost trial edition which eventually steps up in price to the full monthly price. But it takes awhile for this to occur, because I want to give my customers the opportunity to fully test my software before paying for a full one month subscription. It doesn't happen all at once, because I want customers to have a chance to use the low cost versions before deciding on the full priced version.

So for my Trial Edition (as shown in the previously uploaded screenshot) the process works as follows:

    $9 - Initial Trial
    $9 - 2nd Trial Edition [1 week later]
    $47 - Starter Edition [1 week later]
    $47 - Starter Edition [1 week later]
$198 - Full Monthly Edition [1 week later]

At any point in the process, the customer can cancel with the "Manage" link in their receipt email. You authorized these charges when you first signed up for the $9 Trial. This price schedule was listed on the order page ******** link before purchase) and you were reminded of this schedule in each receipt email - 4 times. Refunds have already been  processed for your purchases, and no more refunds will be processed as explained previously.

I am rejecting this response because:

This may be a surprise but almost all software comes with a trial period and then full paid version. When I initially contacted this business I chatted with this business owner and he recommended the 7 day trial. He did not mention this trial again, sort of trial and then full version nonsense.

Further even after chatting with him again to reverse the full version charge in September, he charged my credit card two times more for trial and the sort of trial amounts on September 22nd. He has not refunded those charges.

    Sincerely,

    ***** ******
