I moved out from "The Presidio Apartments" at the end of Feb 2023. They initially charged me with exorbitant move-out charges of $1670 = $500 (move-in deposit) + $1170 (due balance).I negotiated the charges with Presidio as I had both move-in and move-out photos and videos. They reduced the final amount to $1020 = $500 (move-in deposit) + $520 (due balance).They avoided further negotiations, kept the move-in deposit of $500, and passed on the due balance of $520 to collection agency as the remaining debt. The collection agency named "********************", sent me an invalid debt of $985. There were not willing to negotiate, and now the debt is reported on my credit history as derogatory **** of $985.Since coming to *** as an immigrant, I have lived in 5 apartments at different locations in ********, **. I am a very clean and tidy person, same as my wife. I have never been charged more than $200 for move-out expenses from any of those previous apartments. I have always received back almost all of my security deposits while moving out of every apartment, except for The Presidio. I have a very good history with all of my previous properties I rented.Presidio is charging me unnecessary hefty move-out wear and tear charges as below:Cleaning charges: $185 Carpet cleaning charges: $85 Partial paint charges: $365 Tub and enclosure reglaze: $450 They had initially charged me with Stovetop charges of $594, which they removed later on, as I had pictures of the scratched stovetop prior to move-in.They are pinning such high charges to all their tenants during move-out which is very disappointing. They also have bad reviews on ****** and Yelp because of this particular behavior. They also are not willing to negotiate and find a middle ground.Even though leaving aside the $300 I should receive back from my deposit of $500, as a fair amount for keeping apartment clean, I want to request BBB to help me cancel the unnecessary debt of $520 from The Presidio.
