Aragon CPAs has repeatedly collected money and not performed services. I came to them in August of 2022 to file my ERTC and R&D credits, and for bookkeeping services. Initially I caught them charging me for bookkeeping services that were not being completed. Then they failed to file my ERTC and R&D credits, I had to follow up repeatedly to get them to attempt to provide the services. Their delays caused me to miss out on a very large ERTC payment due to the *** putting the program on-hold. In July of 2023 I was finally assured that my R&D credits were filed. I paid their fees, and confirmed the filing multiple times with my representative. As of December 2023 I had still not received any credits, though the team once again assured me they were filed. In April of 2024 I came to find out that my credits were never actually filed. They just took my money and once again performed no services. I still have not received any R&D payouts now in June 2024, and I have low confidence that they have been filed at all. This company took my money, lied to my face repeatedly about work being done, and their delays have caused me significant business harm and financial loss.

    Dear BBB,

We appreciate the opportunity to respond to ************'s complaint. ************ engaged our services for Tax Planning, Tax Preparation, and Bookkeeping in July 2022. Throughout the period of our engagement, we diligently provided all the agreed-upon services.

In July 2023, ************ chose to terminate the ongoing agreement but requested our assistance with filing for the Employee Retention Tax Credit (****) and Research & Development (R&D) Tax Credit. Our fee structure for these services is based on a percentage of the amount the client qualifies for.

To date, ************ has paid $6,111.35 of the total invoice amounting to $9,782.99, leaving an outstanding balance.

We confirm that we timely mailed the necessary documentation for the **** and R&D credits to the appropriate authorities via ***** Once the documents are dispatched, the responsibility for processing these credits lies with the **** The delay in processing ************'s **** credit is due to an IRS hold on such documents, which was lifted only in May 2023.

Given that we have fulfilled our contractual obligations, and there is still an outstanding amount due for our services, we regret to inform you that we cannot offer a refund.

    Sincerely,
    *****************************, Admin

Aragon seems to be disregarding the lack of services provided and the gross negligence associated with the handling of my account. I paid for bookkeeping services from August 2022 to December 2022, but those services were never performed. I caught the company not performing services paid for and instead of remedying the mistake they gave me a discount and decided to disregard updating my books for those months. Instead they hacked my bookkeeping to balance out the account in December. My books were never balanced or properly categorized during those months. Later they were supposed to be providing me bookkeeping services from January 2023 up until April 2023, but I am currently paying a new firm money to resolve the poor categorization and lack of proper bookkeeping done for those months.

Disregarding the face that I engaged with Aragon in August 2022 for the purpose of filing my R&D and ERTC tax credits, but did not get a proposal until March 2023. I paid the firm to file R&D tax credits in 2023. That was not done despite being told multiple times that my R&D credits were filed, I found out in 2024 that Aragon took my payments but never filed my credits.

The company is deceitful and their gross negligence directly impacted my company causing me sever financial hardship. Taking funds and not performing the duties paid for is theft.

I have multiple examples of this deceit and Aragon should not be allowed to simply dismiss the amount of theft performed because there is an outstanding balance caused by their negligence.

We acknowledge the client's concerns regarding the bookkeeping services. Our records, including timesheets, show that our bookkeepers worked on the client's account. While the client may feel the services were not performed correctly, we assure that the work was completed to the best of our ability. The client requested to cancel bookkeeping services in April 2023, citing financial pressures and the need for cash flow: "Is it possible to remove the bookkeeping service for now since I am encountering a lot of loan pressure and need all of the extra cashflow that I can get?
Regarding the R&D and ERTC tax credits, we filed these with the *** on August 3rd, 2023, and have **** tracking information to verify this. We refute any claims of gross negligence and assert that we fulfilled our obligations to the client to the best of our capabilities. We believe we have completed all necessary work for this client.

I hired See **** to correct a tax issue from the sale of stock back in 2019. The *** was erroneously double counting my stock profits and See said she could correct the issue and get the *** off my back for $1000. She decided we needed to refile, but about four months after doing so, I received a letter from the *** stating that my initial refile was insufficient. I sent the letter to See. She told me that the *** was simply backed up and hadnt gotten to my return yet. Clearly, she didnt read the letter and told me to just wait. Soon I received another letter from the *** stating again that the refile was inadequate. See dismissed the letter yet again. A couple months later, I received yet another letter about the same issue. At this point, *** finally started to take action by putting a second refile together, but because she wasnt thorough w/ my case, and because she didnt read the letters, she didnt think to add more evidence about my stock sales to the refile. She still assumed the *** never got the initial filing. After the second refile, I got another letter from the *** that rejected the refile. How was this possible after two refiles? This had to be an issue with the preparation of the refilling. I asked See if she could call the *** to see what was going on. She refused, so I had to call the *** myself. They told me that the forms had not been filed correctly and that I needed to add supplemental evidence. I then had to go to Turbo Tax to get advice since See refused to help me. Based on Turbo Taxs advice, I was able to send more evidence of the error to the *** and they told me to refile with the evidence attached. After this, I went back to See to ask her to refile again, but the right Unfortunately, See didnt respond to my emails and wouldnt communicate. The only time she did communicate is when I threatened to come to the BBB. The owner ************** me to do it. So here we are almost two years later and she still hasnt finished the job.

Aragon Accounting hired a company called Reputation MD to fix the horrible reviews **** Aragon and his company were getting because of their service.  Reputation MD reached out to me and I asked for a full refund to resolve my complaint.  They have never responded back to me.  However, they did reach out to the BBB to make it look like they were actively trying to resolve my issue - this caused my original complaint to be taken down.  I stand by my original post about the treatment and service I received from Aragon Accounting.

$499 was charged to my business checking account by ****** Accounting Corp. on 11/04/23 for tax planning services in advance for the month of November (11/04/23 - 12/04/23). However, I cancelled my account with this business on 11/07/23 due to their highly unprofessional conduct, lack of appropriate communication, black box pricing, and highly specious tax planning strategies. I requested the refund of the $499 from the proprietor, **** ******, and never received the courtesy of a reply.

Meanwhile, the work delivered prior was subpar in the extreme: established deadlines were missed with no communication, there were errors in my final returns, etc. They even missed a very simple election filing that would have saved me tens of thousands of dollars. Furthermore, after being sold by the two leads (**** and ****), I was then assigned to a very young junior accountant who, while sweet, lacked the communication skills and knowledge to effectively service my corporation.

Meanwhile, they were charging me $499/month for tax planning services and yet couldn't be bothered to answer a basic email or return a phone call. I repeatedly had to track them down for even the most elemental questions. Lastly, when I finally had had enough and cancelled my agreement with ****** Accounting Corp, they charged me an additional $499/month and refused to refund it! I was also told how my business ranked: “*******, it's on the low end of our customer list.”

In closing, when I transferred to a top rated corporate accounting group (who is much cheaper than ******, BTW), I was told that the "tax planning strategies" that I had paid for were INVALID in the state of CA, and were sure fire red flags for audits! At a minimum, I am requesting the refund of at least the last month of services paid for and not rendered due to my cancellation of the account.
