    My husband, ****, purchased a car at Journey West Motors on 08/06/2023. Car is a 2011 ****** Altima. A day or so later we went to officially take the car home. We met ****** at the dealership. He works as a mechanic there. He went by himself to take the car to a shop, supposedly, to get a smog check done. He brings us back the smog check vehicle inspection report where anything that is applicable has passed. I didn't think much of it all since I'm not familiar with the car buying process and my husband doesn't speak much English, much less can read it. The mechanic speaks Spanish, however, and ensures my husband that everything is good with the car and we can finally take it home. On the way home from the dealership that day, the check engine light appears just minutes after. It hadn't appeared on the day we test drove it, though. My husband attempts to fix the car, buying new parts to replace some old ones, he does an oil change and up until now has taken it to at least two mechanics. Recently the car has had problems turning on so he took it to a shop and was told the battery is from the year ****. My husband says that isn't the only problem with the car so even if we get a new battery installed it won't fix all of its problems. He has reason to believe that the mechanic lied and may have altered the car engine in some way, possibly replacing some part(s) and I'm fairly convinced he gave us a false VIR considering the amount of problems the car had since we bought it. If this helps our case, the contract for the car was in English so my husband relied on what the mechanic and I were translating. I didn't sign anything, however, and definitely not something where I claimed I understood and translated to the best of my knowledge (but of course, I did try my best at the moment).

    On March 3, 2023 we purchased a used car from "Calvin" at Journey West Motors. We paid in full, no financing and they had us complete and sign and pay for electronic filing of DMV transfer and tax. They have never transferred the vehicle, it is still in someone else's name. They refuse to speak to us. Our temporary registration has expired, the tags on the plates have expired, and we have had to have DMV open an investigation.
