I rented a room at a 2 star motel for my daughter's birthday. When checking in the employee was extremely nice and helpful. He gave me the option of a "newer remodeled" room with better WiFi next to the office or a "less quality room" that didn't have the best WiFi . The girls (my daughter and 2 friends) chose the "less quality room" because they wanted to be further from the office. When we walked into the room for the first time, it reeked of cigarette tobacco. I didn't say anything because I've been to this motel at least 10 times and most of the rooms smell. It's a run down motel where drug addicts, drug dealers, and prostitutes frequent. The morning of checkout I straightened up the room, threw out trash, and swept the floor. The girls rolled a blunt and went outside to smoke in the parking lot while my baby and I walked to the office to checkout. The guy at the desk went to check the room and when he came back he said that the room smelled like cigarettes. I told him that I didn't even smoke cigarettes. Then he proceeded to say the room smelled like weed and because of this, he was keeping my $100 deposit. He could clearly see the girl's smoking outside, so I believe we were targeted because we were all females. He threatened to call the police on me many times for asking "non bias people" to smell the room (he had his maid agree with everything he said but when I asked her questions she didn't understand English. Before the issue was resolved, I finally found two legitimate non bias people who I've never seen before come smell the room and the maid rushed down and shut the door preventing them from "making a statement" I didn't want to leave and it be his word versus mine. I wanted evidence to prove I was telling the truth. I asked for the managers name and number and he declined to give it to me. I want my deposit back and I want an apology for being put through this.
