I purchased a certified pre-owned ************* Class-C (VIN: *****************) from AutoNation Toyota Cerritos under agreement number ZY153408. At the time of purchase, I was promised that the vehicle had passed all required inspections and was in excellent condition. I was also sold a three-year oil change and service plan.Despite those representations, this vehiclewith only ****** miles on **** already showing significant, unacceptable problems. The paint is peeling badly, there are loud, persistent squealing noises from the windows, and there are other mechanical and cosmetic concerns as well, all of which raise serious doubts about the vehicles condition at the time of ******* reasonable person believes this car was ever properly inspected or reconditioned to certified standards. The problems are obvious, ongoing, and far beneath what should be expected of a vehicle with this mileage, price point, and dealership backing. This is not normal wear and tearit is a breakdown in quality control and accountability.Instead of acknowledging these issues or honoring their own service commitments, the dealerships response was to try to pressure me into buying a different car. That is unacceptable. It is a clear attempt to evade responsibility and silence a dissatisfied customer.Initial Complaint

I took my car in for routine service 3/6/25. No issues with the car. They damaged my engine, tried to cover up the issue, replaced it without asking me, informing me and without approval replacement my engine with a used engine obtained from LKQ, whom Ive never heard of and has less than 2 star ratings from the BBB.They arbitrarily made the decision and said because my 2015 Prius had 106K miles they have me an engine with allegedly 99K miles. My car has only been ever serviced by Toyota and I keep it in good condition with the intent of having it for many years to come. Ive had Toyota ******************************************************** only ever performed maintenance in my car, assuming it in better hands and if anything went wrong they would do the right thing. Cerritos was horrible. Please contact me and help me. I dont know how that engine was used or if abused and up against the wall.I called Lancaster Toyota and presented my case as a what if case, and the supervisor I spoke with said they damaged an engine in the past with 200K miles and with the customers knowledge and consent replaced it wit an engine of 100K.This was not my case and they refused to replace my engine with a new engine. All I want is for them to install a new engine. It was their error/liability and are not doing the right thing. I have emails and documents to back up my statements that I can gladly supply. Please help me.Initial Complaint

The highlight of my complaint is the dealership sold me a car with non working components. I would like to highlight that because I have tried to contact the dealership and every single time I tried to resolve the issue and speak to any associate wether it be the service department, the sales department or the used car sales department I have received nothing but backlash, refusing to take accountability, neglecting the fact they sold me a vehicle with non working components, refusing to offer solutions to the problem that is THEY SOLD ME A VEHICLE WITH NONWORKING COMPONENTS. The spare keys that were issued to me when purchasing the vehicle are not working, the keys are not programmed to the vehicle and the issue here is the dealership issued me components to the vehicle that do not work IE the spare keys. At this point again the highlight would be the dealership selling me or issuing me non working components. There is no need to purchase, order, or replace my hardware, no need to replace or swap any hardware of parts to my vehicle the issue here goes bck to the dealership selling me and issuing me non working components with my purchase. Im not sure where the customer service is or the effort to rectify the root of the problem which is again THE DEALERSHIP SELLING ME AND ISSUING ME NONWORKING COMPONENTS. It seems the dealership staff wether it be ***** the service techs, service managers, or sales staff and sales managers are neglecting any type of responsibility for selling me and issuing me non working components. Had the dealership issued me working components we would not have this issue. Root of the problem needs to be rectified, solution should be provided, accountability needs to be taken, responsibility needs to be accepted and most of all effort to rectify the root of the problem should be in place. The main problem: the dealership sold me and issued me non working components. I have warranty aswell, nobody has even gotten past absolute refusal to hear.Initial Complaint

Complaint Against: Autonation Toyota Cerritos Business Address: ************************************************************************ Business Phone: ************** Incident Date: February 21, 2025 Complainant: ******** ******* Complaint Summary:On February 21, 2025, I purchased a 2017 ******* MKC from Autonation Toyota Cerritos. Within four days, a powertrain code appeared, rendering the vehicle undrivable. As a result, the car had to be towed back to the dealership. The dealership refunded my money, and I signed paperwork officially returning the vehicle.Following this, the dealership offered me a lease on another vehicle. I went through the leasing process, signed all necessary documents, and was informed that I could return on Monday to provide the deposit and pick up the keys once my initial refund was processed. However, when I called on Monday, I was told the lease had not yet been approved. Later, I was informed that the loan was denied without any explanation, despite being assured that someone would contact me regarding the decision.Shortly after, I received an email from the finance company associated with the ***********, asking me to set up an account for payments. The email indicated that my loan was still active. I immediately contacted the dealership, and they assured me the issue had been resolved. However, after reaching out to the finance company daily for a week, I was repeatedly informed that the dealership had not notified them of the vehicles return, and they were still expecting payments. For over two weeks, I was misled, ignored, and given inconsistent information while trying to resolve this matter. I have since purchased another vehicle, but I now have two active auto loans under my name. Toyota refuses to cancel the original loan and provide proof of its closure. This has caused undue financial and emotional distress.Initial Complaint

My car insurance paid Toyota Cerritos to fix my car due to catalytic converter theft. However, it has been stuck at the dealership for a very long time due to backorder and unable to fix my car. Due to this and other issues relating to communication, I decided to take my car to another shop to be fixed. They wont issue the payment that my insurance paid them back to me nor to my insurance until now. I have filed a complaint against them on *************************** and they got to issue the check and send it via mail but its been a month since the complaint was closed and my insurance company hasnt received it yet. Thats why I am complaining because this business wont refund me back the money that my insurance gave to fix the car that they were unable to fix.Initial Complaint

Took the car in for repair on the radio, service advisor ******* never called back after 1 week of ubers and car being at the toyota dealer, the next week took the car back and was lied to about the part not being available. Requested a loaner and was told I would get a follow up call and once again I never did. Purchased a 12v battery from Toyota that included a lifetime warranty for my 2008 Prius. ******* will no longer start. Brought it into the dealership and they are telling me the battery was replaced under warranty. It was not. I paid about $400 for the battery. They admitted they do not have much detail in their notes and are refusing to cover the battery under the life time warranty.Initial Complaint

Good afternoon! My name is *****************************. We purchased a 2006 Toyota Tacoma on 8/21/23 from Auto Nation Toyota Cerritos at ******************* Cerritos Ca *****. We weren't aware that there was an issue with the catalyst converter. We brought it in to Toyota Temecula near where we live to check out the engine light that turned on. And on 8/23 Toyota Temecula notified us that is was the Catalyst converter. Toyota Temecula technician said " toyota cerritos must of been aware of the situation and most likely turned off the engine light before selling." We asked Toyota Cerritos if they could help us with the bill and they said it wasn't covered. So we paid out of pocket $2876,57. A few months passed and on 1/16/24 the truck started having issues again and we brought it in to Toyota temecula and charged me $1257.46 for the repairs. Then on 7/27/24 The truck was shaking and again I brought it to Toyota Temecula and said the Arms needed to be replaced and other things needed to get repaired bringing the bill to $2172.22. Total to date that we have paid out of pocket for repairs is $6496.25. We feel helpless and fooled for buying a used car from them. We never thought that a big dealership with certified mechanics would do something like this. We trusted them, and they sold us a lemon. I would understand if these issued would of occurred a year or so after, but in less then a year it really bothers me. Please help! Let me know if you need any other information. I have attached 4 receipts and Toyota cerritos contract. Thank you so much!Initial Complaint

I bought a used 2021 Jeep Wrangler in November 2023 and went to have the tires rotated today only to discover I was never made aware there are after market wheels that require a special key to take the tires off. I was not given any keys nor was I informed they were necessary. If I were to get a flat tire today I could not change the tire. The driver side visor is broken and none of the recommended maintenance items were done prior to selling this vehicle.
