    I had been seeing a therapist through *** from 9/5/2023-3/14/2024. My therapist was going to be leaving *** and was going to have *** transfer me to a different therapist within ***. Upon her inquiry to *** about me being transferred, she was informed that *** could not assign me to a new therapist because they had stopped taking my insurance some time ago. *** never notified me or my therapist that they had stopped accepting my insurance. Despite *** having not taken my insurance, they continued to bill me for what my co-pay would have been. I have inquired with my health insurance about this (LA Care) and they told me that this is fraud because *** is required to notify me and my therapist, and they did not. They are currently trying to bill me for $1,020 for sessions (10/5/23-3/14/24) when they did not accept my insurance, and did not notify me of this change. **** (my therapist) tried to help resolve the issue with ***. *** admitted that they should have stopped providing services once the bill reached $200, but did not. And again did not notify me aside from sending me bills. I have attached a copy of the email exchange that shows **** (therapist) inquiring to *** and *** responding and admitting they didn't handle the situation as they should have. If I would have known that *** had stopped accepting my insurance, which would have meant that I would not have been able to continue therapy and would have instead been forced to start from scratch again with a new therapist, I would have likely sought care elsewhere.
