I am writing in hopes that you can resolve an issue of a refund from a rental home in Cambria, CA. As you can see from the attached emails, it began in February when I reserved a week at the Big Red House in Cambria, CA. At that time, it was owned and run by E***** *****, a lovely, honest property owner in whose home we had stayed previously with only good experiences. Unknown to me, Elaine passed away in March or April 2021. My deposit check for $300 was accepted and cashed by Elaine prior to her demise. Due to numerous circumstances, including Covid and lack of in-home care for my multiple animals during my absence, I had to reduce the days reserved and finally cancel the reservation. The cancellation was done well in advance of the 30 days in order to receive my deposit back. When I had no response to my first and second notices of cancellation, I wrote a third time and my message was responded to by her son, Craig, who informed that Elain had passed away. He also told me what “a pain in the ass” and pest I was bothering him. He has since demeaned me and demanded I stop bothering him. I tried explaining that all I wanted was my refund but he continued to respond with progressively more aggressive and demeaning messages. I have attached a copy of all our email communications since the initial reservation as well as a copy of my cancelled $300 check.
