The following describes a pending government action that has been formally brought by a government agency but has not yet been resolved. We are providing a summary of the government’s allegations, which have not yet been proven.
On April 21, 2025, The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) filed a lawsuit (Case 3:25-cv-03477) against Uber Technologies, Inc. for violations of the FTC Act and the Restore Online Shopper Confidence Act.
The lawsuit stems from allegations that since 2021, Uber falsely claimed their Uber One service offered consumers a savings of “$25 monthly every month” and the ability to “cancel at any time.” According to the lawsuit, consumers found the savings claim to be false, alleged that they were enrolled in the Uber One subscription service without their consent and that consumers encountered significant obstacles when attempting to cancel the subscription.
The FTC is seeking a permanent injunction to prevent future violations and monetary relief.
The case is pending.
