First Derm is supposed to give basic dermatology advice/diagnosis from board certified dermatologists based on photos and a description of the skin condition. I purchased this service from them on 2/25/23 and received a response the next day. In my submission I said that I knew it was likely rosacea and asked several easy questions about it, such as if my current skin care regiment would be sufficient. The response was severely underwhelming, basically repeating back that it was probably rosacea (exactly what I had said) and then describing what rosacea was (their initial response attached) before suggesting I see a different dermatologist. It was a response that I, notably not a board certified dermatologist, could have easily given and was very likely simply copied and pasted from a WebMd type site. I asked for a refund and they responded with a similarly underwhelming "diagnosis". I again asked for a refund and have thus far been ignored. Perhaps more concerning is that although they clearly state on their main website that your submission will be both confidential and handled by a board-certified dermatologist, a deeper look into their terms and conditions states that they do not guarantee either one. This seems, to me at least, to be deeply misleading and unethical. In researching this business I was able to find at least one instance where they flagrantly and publicly shared "confidential" health information about a dissatisfied customer (supporting documents). The combination of poor service and uncertainty of whether or not my submission was actually reviewed by a real dermatologist is why I'm seeking a refund.
