    A friend and I stayed at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort in Tucson Saturday 6/422 through Monday 6/6/22 which cost us $542.84. While we were out of the room Sunday June 5th, the maids entered our room which is when someone threw away a Crate & Barrel shopping bag, sitting on the counter next to the coffee maker which had my night guard in it. The night guard was in a red case but the maid(s) mistook this as trash. It is especially important to note that the shopping bag was not in a garbage can and it was not our last day at the resort. It was always my understanding that nothing should be considered trash until a customer has checked out. Despite numerous calls to Loews management starting on 6/6/22 at 7:30 pm and to the Liberty Mutual agent assigned my claim (**********), it took them 6 weeks to advise that my claim was denied. Liberty Mutual acknowledged my night guard was likely thrown away by the maid staff but it was my fault for not using the safe available to me. I explained this was not jewelry with universal value, causing me to believe it could be stolen. This was a night guard that only fits my mouth which would have had value only to me. There was no concern my night guard would be stolen (which it wasn't). There was also no concern that anything would be removed from our room before we had checked out. On 6/15/22 I was fitted for a new night guard which my insurance only covers a majority of every three years, so I had to pay full price which was $593. This invoice was emailed to the Liberty Mutual agent same day for his reference on what I expected to be reimbursed. On Saturday 7/16/22 I spoke to a Loews supervisor, Heather who advised their incident report stated in error that the night guard was lost, so she stated they may be able to resubmit the claim. However, on Thursday 7/28/22 I heard from ***** (director of security) who offered me another 2 nights, 3 days stay instead, which I declined. I advised I expect reimbursement for the night guard.
