Our dog Onyx needed to undergo surgery to remove a tumor on his leg in May 2021. The surgery was performed successfully by our regular veterinary surgeon at Southwest Veterinary Surgery in ******* *******. Following the surgery we took him home and shortly thereafter he began to bleed from the surgical area. We had been advised to contact ****** if there were any complications after normal business hours or on the weekend. Since it was after hours we brought Onyx to ****** for follow-up treatment for the bleeding. After several hours of "treatment" he was released and we brought him home, however the bleeding still had not stopped. We contacted ****** and were told to monitor him and that he should be fine the next day. He was not! Finally, we were able to bring Onyx back to his regular veterinarian once the office had opened and he received the treatment he should have received at ******. When he was released, he had additional sutures, a full-length leg wrap and a drain line to drain any infections. None of this had been done at ******! I have tried to negotiate with ****** directly several times, as well as with their insurance company, ******************* (a ****** **************** without sucess. We have asked that they reimburse for the cost of the "care" Onyx received from them, since it was not the treatment he needed to resolve his problem. Because of this lack of proper care, Onyx suffered unnecessary additional trauma, as did we, required additional treatment, took longer to recover from his ordeal, and in addition, we needlessly paid for services that had no benefit. ******'s position was that they provided the standard of care required under the circumstances. If that is the case, then why did Onyx need the additional care and treatment he received from his regular veterinarian in order to resolve the problem? We only ask your help in reimbursing us for the needless expense we incurred due to their lack proper care
