I am writing to express my deep disappointment with the service at Cafe Zupas on November 29, 2023, around 8:16 PM. Our dining experience was significantly impacted by a series of issues that I feel compelled to bring to your attention.Upon arrival, my sister and I ordered two "try 2 combos," hoping my mother could do the same. Unfortunately, the restaurant was out of both chicken noodle soup and chickpea soup, leading my mother to settle for a sandwich. At checkout, we discovered the integral components of the "try 2 combo," chocolate-covered strawberries and side bread, were also unavailable, with no substitutes offered.To worsen matters, I realized I was charged for only one "try 2 combo," one sandwich, and two half sides, totaling $45. When I brought this to the staff's attention, they insisted I call the next day for a resolution, which is unacceptable.Hygiene concerns arose as my mother's sandwich was cut with a dirty knife, and our salads were served in unclean dishes. Regardless of the restaurant's modest busyness, such lapses in cleanliness are inexcusable and raise doubts about Cafe Zupas' overall standards.Update (12/04):Though I eventually received a refund, the process was cumbersome, involving two shift leaders and a call to the General Manager, ****, taking almost 20 minutes. An ill-mannered teen shift leader with orange hair displayed unprofessional behavior, arguing about refund time limits and disputing dish conditions. Given my distance and work schedule, adhering to the restaurant's convenience for issue resolution is impractical. However, the professionalism of the other shift leader was commendable.I urged ****; the General Manager, to review security camera footage to validate my claims. My experience at Cafe Zupas was marred by multiple issues, from food unavailability to poor hygiene and uncooperative staff. I hope this feedback prompts necessary retraining for a more positive and sanitary dining experience in the future.
