At the apartment we live at, our car has been vandalized 2 separate times. The car had been parked in our covered spot. The first time it happened we got it fixed out of our pocket. Then it happened again. The police were called and a report filed on both instances. There is someone in the apartment complex that is targeting us for no reason at all. This complex has No security and no cameras. We asked the apartment complex to allow us to leave the apartment without any fees due to the fact that we are unsafe here and our quality of life is not being protected. There are laws that the landlord needs to abide by such as them enforcing the right to have a safe and peaceful living environment. The complex told us no they would charge us about $12k in fees to leave early. Even when told any the landlord tenant act laws and with the scary situation going on with our property being vandalized. Also in order to fix our car again it is going to cost us $500 , again, and the complex is telling us we have to fix our car now or they will tow it. Our car is making them look bad so they want it gone or fixed asap. But they will not help us leave the situation and they are not going to pay the $500 to fix it. How are we supposed to come up with another $500 right away!! They are threatening us when we are already down. They have no compassion or understanding for what we are going thru. They will not help us in any way, they only care any money here. They even had the audacity to tell us we could put the car in a garage but we still had to pay for the garage. They are so inconsiderate and disgusting. I have never been treated like such trash in my life. I'm at a loss as to what to do. I can't afford a lawyer and I'm barely making ends meet, if they tow my car I will never be able to get it back.

    Business Response

    To Whom It May Concern,

Thank you for the opportunity to respond to the complaint submitted by ***** ****** regarding their lease termination at Allegro Apartments due to concerns about safety following a vehicle vandalism incident.

First and foremost, we regret that the resident experienced this unfortunate event and understand the impact such incidents can have on one's sense of security. The safety and well-being of our residents is very important to us, and we take all reports of vandalism seriously.

Upon being notified of the incident, our management team took the following actions:

    • Encouraged the resident to file a police report to properly document the vandalism.
    • Cooperated fully with any law enforcement inquiries.
    • Reviewed existing safety measures and communicated with our crime free service regarding increased awareness of the situation.

While we sympathize with the resident's concerns, it is important to clarify that incidents involving vehicle vandalismthough upsettingare beyond the control of management and do not constitute a legal justification to break the lease agreement without penalty under the terms outlined in the signed lease.

That said, we worked with the resident to offer options for early lease termination in accordance with the lease agreement and our community policies. These options were communicated clearly and fairly, and the resident was not charged for any damages beyond the terms agreed upon.

We strive to provide a secure and respectful living environment and continually review our safety protocols. While no community can guarantee the prevention of all crimes, we remain committed to doing our part to maintain a safe and welcoming place for our residents.

If any further information is needed, we are happy to cooperate in resolving this matter.

    Sincerely,

My fiance and I are looking to move out of our unit at Allegro Apartments when our lease is over at the end of Sept. We were just informed by Allegro that we will have to pay an extra months rent before we can leave. There is nothing in our contract that states this, so we asked them what the reasoning was. To which, they replied, "get a lawyer." So we read the entire contract, and found that they are actually at fault for violating our contract back in January, and every single month until May. We had a mold infestation in our bathroom, I reported it to Allegro in December. Our contract states very clearly that it is our landlords responsibility to ensure that our living quarters are kept in a safe and healthy state. They obviously failed at this, therefore breaking the agreement, as it took them 5 months to address the issue. 5 months that my fiance and I had to breathe contaminated air. Now they are trying to force us to pay an extra $2000. That money is necessary to help us move, and according to the contract, we are not obligated to pay it. But seeing as Allegro will not communicate with us without a lawyer, we are basically being forced to take action to protect ourselves from their wrongdoings.

Hello, BBB,I, *******************************, am writing regarding a problem with an old apartment complex that I lived in. The problem was that I was a resident of Allegro Apartments from June 2021 to June 2022. Even though I moved out early, I continued paying the lease. I did not get anything from them, so I went into the office and spoke with ******* ***. She told me my balance was zero dollars and gave me the paperwork in the text.
