On January 27, 2023 I ordered a Safe Step Tub. I took out a loan because it was expensive, yet necessary for my rheumatoid arthritis. It was inspected by ***********************, building inspector and repaired for leaks by ******. It was recommended by doctors and other professionals. I have used it sometimes daily for weeks or sometimes three times a week. It has always worked by filling and draining properly.On April 29, 2023 I entered the tub, filled it, relaxed in hot water. When it was time to drain it so I could exit the tub, the button did not work on the remote or the side panel. I tried to exit the tub for over an hour. I called a neighbor to allow a friend to get my house key to enter my home to assist in lifting me over the high sides. I could not climb over it. I tried and tried to push the drain with my ***************. I continued pushing the button to no avail. I called Safe Step at 9:30 PM and got an operator who said, "Oh, I get a lot of calls like this." Apparently, there is a defect in the drainage system that causes seniors like me to be trapped in the tub. I began to panic because the water turned cold and I could not exit. After 90 minutes I got the tub to drain by pushing my fingernails on my thumb into the plastic button. I was agitated and cold. I am afraid to use it again. I was charged $30,000 for removal of my old time and installation of this one. I want this removed. I'm afraid to ever use it again. They committed fraud by telling me it was safe. I'm 77 years old. It is NOT safe. I want my money back and the tub removed.
