    My daughter and I moved to Arkansas a few months ago and purchased a house that needed quite a few repairs. We hired Matt Balentine of Matt's Family Construction and negotiated a price for each repair before he started. I agreed to pay 30% of the total price of labor up front. After he began, he asked for "advances" to "cover bills" which I, perhaps naively, paid.

    I also paid for the supplies, but when I calculated the prices myself on the Home Depot website, it came to almost $1,800.00 less than what he charged me. He refused to show me any receipts when I asked, which should have been a red flag. After completing a few repairs, he took all his tools, left, and never came back. The next week my phone calls were blocked. I then sent him an email asking him to work this out with me, and refund the money. He never responded.

    I would really appreciate the opportunity to work with someone before a complaint is lodged against his business. It is not my desire to bring harm to his familly business. The local sheriffs department told me I needed to find his address in order to have a letter mailed, and that they couldn't even bring him up under a business registry because he had no license. If I can please start a case and have someone to speak to, I would greatly appreciate it. Very sincerely, Kimberly

    I have attached the email establishing the price of repairs, a list of the repairs he completed, and my receipts from Square.

    Completed Tasks:
    -Remove big branch and brick block $400 - (not completed)
    -Replace roof screws and in general make sure tin roof is weatherproofed and good to go $350
    -Eve repair $50
    -Build a screened in porch in back, length of the pre existing columns. $2100
    -Painting exterior house (carport and eaves) $600
    -Front of house gutters (not completed) $300
    Total = $3800.
    Total that we paid: $5640

    Total I calculated for supplies: $2020
    Total we paid for supplies: $3838.76

    This totals $3,658.76 that we would like refunded.
