Subject: Grissomco. Improvements, General Contractor failed to fulfill obligation to home remodeling contract in due time. I am writing you to file a complaint against a despicable Grissomco. Improvement for failure to fulfill a home remodeling obligation. Grissomco. & The ******* family signed a contract on January 4, 2021 for a remodeling project. According to Stephen Grissom's contract, he was to be finished with the work in 12 weeks. To date, July 5, 2021 and all work started is incomplete. I am a 100% DISABLED VET from the State of Alabama who served almost 30 years in uniform. I am now mostly blind with severe back and leg problems and my family and I live in Maryland. Originally from the great city of Huntsville I lived here 40 years ago and was a standout student athlete. In January, we purchased a home on **** ***** Drive, Huntsville, Alabama XXXXX in hopes of returning to our great city. I never would have thought Huntsville now has dishonest business owners or businesses trying to take advantage of out-of-towners and especially disabled veterans who served overseas. The house was vacant for 5 months until May 27, when my college son moved in, so Grissomco. had plenty of time to work on an empty house. THE PROJECT Complaint: Grissomco. lied about ordering the windows in February. We had to deal directly with the window company ourselves. The contractor was tasked with the responsibility of securing the work permit. Instead we had to complete the application from the City of Huntsville. The work site has remained a disaster; trash in the yard and demo material still remains on the premises (no dumpster), boards with nails upright around the floor and the garage is filled with trash. Electrical work was started, but not completed leaving live outlets hanging out of the walls and ceiling. There are stolen items from the home. Workers leaving water running for hours. Flood damage due to an incorrect supply line installed in the bathroom. Additionally, driving trucks on my front lawn. WORK NOT PERFORMED. Not showing up to the job site for days, two or three weeks at a time. ALL DEADLINES MISSED & ALL WORK INCOMPLETE. The project should have been completed by April 15. THE FINANCIAL Transaction: Grissomco. has been paid three installments to do the work; please see the work schedule attached. 1. January 15, 2021 - $13,075.00 2. April 1, 2021 - $8,082.00 3. May 26, 2021 - $13,075.00 for a total of $34,232.00. All deadlines missed; all work incomplete and 62% of the money paid. In addition to the money submitted to Grissomco. Improvements, the homeowners have purchased 95% of the material including flooring, appliances, fixtures, cabinets, doors, all items bathroom & kitchen. ACTION: Grissomco. Improvement (Alabama License # XXXXX & XXXXX) under ******* and ***** Jones ******* has been given a one-time extension to complete all work by August 20, 2021. RESOLUTION: If work is not complete by the August 20 deadline, legal action will be taken to recover at a minimum 90% of the funds plus compensation for damaged grass, compensation for stolen items and compensation for water bill since Grissomco. has insurance through their licensing agency. In addition, the Grissomco. Improvement License expires at the end of this year December 31, 2021 at which time I will be requesting a full investigation of business practices. After August 20, I will also be filing an official formal complaints with the necessary agencies. Disable Veterans who proudly served this Nation should not have to go through this disrespect of enjoying a comfortable home. Had we known Grissomco. could not do the work, we would have found another Contractor. Respectfully
