In April I got a bill of $887.50, so I called the company and they told me that the bill is from another property that I sold in February. I said that I paid all utilities at closing why are you bringing me a bill now, I was told they sent the bill but it was not paid. The gas on the property was turned on in November 2023 and was sold in February 2024, it was vacant with nobody in it during this period, so come I have a bill of almost $800 and they said it was from the meter they read. Why did you not send me a separate bill but decided to add it to the bill of my primary residence, they because it is in my name. I told I am not going to pay the bill they should send me a proof and separate bill for the property in question and that was how I ended the call. Approximately 2weeks ago, Spire came to turn off my gas at my primary residence. I called them to ask them why my gas was turned off they said I have to pay them a sum of $490 before they can turn it back on. I said my primary residence is not owing why turn off my gas for a property that has been sold months back, I do not have hot water in my house and my kids are going to school. I work night shift, they cannot get shower unless I get home . I feel discriminated and frustrated at this point I do not have the money, they are asking for. I wish I can get someone that can intervene in this, it is frustrating.Review from Scott W

The company appeared, rang the doorbell and informed me that they were out to change the meter. The technician began work, left, returned to work, left again and then returned. Upon leaving the final time I found he had run over a sprinkler head (breaking it). I called to notify the company (*****) and was told someone "would get back to me in 2-3 days". I waited and 3 days later I contacted them again (*****) who informed me the first person I spoke with (*****) had sent the message to the wrong department. I had the head fixed by my irrigation company (I did not need a geyser in my front yard every time the system started up). Four days later I was contacted by (******) and told she would follow up and get back to me. Three days later I again spoke to the company (***** and ******) who said they saw what was happening in their notes and I should be hearing something soon. Three days later, I just got off the phone again (******) and was told "needed proof that it was their technician who caused the problem". This whole process took two weeks with the end result that this company has no integrity and will not stand behind their work. My sprinkler system was working perfectly in the morning prior to the spire truck arriving. The truck was parked (all three times) on the edge of the curb where my sprinkler head is. After completion of their work, my sprinkler head was found and the sprinkler head was broken. How much proof is needed and why wait two weeks to inform me of the 'need for proof'? I really wish there was another choice for service as I would change without any hesitation.Review from Patricia O

RIP-OFF - zero stars! Spire charged me almost $800 for my bill in February, claiming I had used more than 6X the Ccf's than the previous month. In March, the Ccf's also measured almost 4X less. My space uses only a gas furnace, nothing else, so these readings cannot be correct. The thermostat was set to 68 degrees and there were no other changes to our gas usage in the month of February. I would have had to have cranked the heat up to a toasty oven temperature for these numbers to be accurate, but there is no reasoning with Spire.Spire sent service people out twice and insisted that nothing was wrong with my meter and that maybe I should have my windows replaced (which does not address the price differential from month to month). Online agents simply kept stating that gas prices had gone up. I finally gave up arguing and had to pay the bill or be threatened with disconnection. With no direct competition in Missouri, they can operate with impunity.Review from Mary S.

ZERO STARS.. Since Spire is the only game in town, (i.e., a Monopoly in ***, **), they've fixed prices to force the customer to pay more for ******************** to DELIVER the gas than the price for the customer's actual gas USAGE.. I called them on the phone to inquire, and they refused to explain.. very shady. Why, Spire?Review from jon f

After reading other reviews don't need to mention to much more than what has already been mentioned. Thinking of changing companies since they fail to address customer concerns. Their rebate department is horrible as well. Have been trying for over three months to get a rebate for a furnace I had replaced. NEVER any contact with an update. Every time I call can never speak to a reap person. Horrible service all around.Review from Linda W

I received my gas bill with Spire today 2/8/24 and the bill is $324.84. I called to find out why my gas bill is so much higher than from the last 3 months, when my thermostat has been at the same temperature for months. To top it off, I have an energy efficient thermostat for the last 2 years. My bill for the last 3 months have been pretty much the same amount. ******* said to me, it was this amount $324.84 because of "price increase." I rebuttal and said to her "**** told me this same thing months ago." Then she gone say it was because "the days of the service period was 32 days." I said to her "it ain't even 32 days in any month." Then she gone try one more time and say "that is how much my bill was at this same time last year, so basically they just used last year usage amount rather than my actual usage." I rebuttal again and said "how can Spire charge me for usage from a year ago and just add it to my current bill and say that this is my current usage. I then said "yall are cheating and getting over on us consumers because make any of these responses you're saying make sense to me." I then said "you can't." So, I am going to take a picture of my meter and see that Spire is overcharging us as consumers because they can. I want my bill to be adjusted to my actual usage used. Strange to me that for the last 3 months my bill was around the same price with my thermostat never being adjusted.Review from Steve E

Extremely disappointed! I have been on budget billing for about 10years and have been happy with the service up until November of 2022 when my budget was raised by almost 45%! I didn't say anything at that time since there was some colder weather but I thought that was extremely high for one year and maybe it would be adjusted down in 2023. My December 2023 bill came and they raised it by another $10 or 8%. I looked at my usage for the year and I used 300 Ccfs LESS than in 2022. I contacted them about this and after talking with a customer service rep and a billing department rep they told me that there was nothing they could do to reduce the budget amount. It seems to me this company is out of control and needs to be held accountable to its customers to provide fair costs.Review from Casey M

Doing updates in my neighborhood, the employees are non responsive, unprofessional, lack any communication of length or breadth of project, won't respond to calls or texts to the numbers they gave us, and are irresponsible with peoples property and lives. I made an emergency gas smell call and the update crew said they never got the call a week later. I also saw them laughing (not helping!) at my 95yr old neighbor as she tried to get to a car in her ****** as she tried to navigate the piles of dirt, tape, debris and cones. The projects are being ran terribly and no one seems to care or respond when we call for info. Poorly management and poor communication aren't the way to do business, especially when they are feet from peoples homes and many people work out of their homes.Review from Gina B

They wouldnt let me cancel service even though I didnt live there anymore. They are now double billing me for the last month at ************ and new activation at my new place. I inquired with customer service and they told me I never called to cancel - which I absolutely did. And they never addressed the double billing. Basically I am being forced to double pay because they are the only gas option available.
