Ameren is charging me to much for my electric, Its only one person in my house and I'm hardly never at home, I work two jobs 12 shift ain't no way I can be using 421 worth of electric, i was ask to betaking off budget bill and they never took me off, now they saying budget billing is behind, when they been charging me more than I've been using, Im sick of this, can't take it no more, they are ripping me off!!!!!Ameren Response

After calling to review who my electrical supplier was and determine why my bill was higher than normal, the representative offered to send a technician to my home to investigate why I was using more energy and suggest ways to reduce it. I informed her that I would like to be present during the appointment to hear what the technician had to say, and we scheduled it for a Friday.However, the technician showed up at my home on a Thursday when only my wife was there. He ignored a "Beware of Dog" sign, entered our backyard, and our dog, who was secured, let himself out. My wife immediately grabbed his leash. The technician asked if the dog was friendly, and after my wife assured him, he approached and petted the dog. Later, without informing either of us or explaining his presence, he reported our dog to the state, claiming he was bitten.I contacted Ameren and spoke with supervisors who acknowledged that the disconnect of the appointment should not have happened and promised to conduct an internal review. However, nothing was offered to rectify the situation, and I was disconnected twice during these *************** summary, the technician arrived on the wrong day, under the wrong pretense of helping me save energy, only to "check the meter." He ignored the warning sign about our dog and then filed a report with the county, even though my wife witnessed the entire interaction and saw him pet the dog. Despite reaching out to Ameren for resolution, I have received no satisfactory response.Customer Response

Ameren Illinois conducted a thorough investigation of the subject complaint, which revealed the following information.On 08/22/24, an Ameren Illinois lineman responded to an order to check an electric meter for a high bill complaint. This type of meter read order does not have a scheduled date or time for the technician to respond. Upon arrival, the lineman spoke to the homeowner and asked her to keep the dog inside while he read and checked the meter. No issues were found at the meter or on Ameren Illinois' side of the meter.While in the back yard, the dog was let out. The homeowner came out after the dog, but assured the lineman he was friendly. While petting the dog, he playfully bit the lineman and broke the skin. As part of Ameren Illinois procedures, the incident was reported to the Ameren ********************* The safety team, following state guidelines, advised that animal control needed to be contacted.On 08/23/24, an Ameren Illinois Electric Operations Supervisor contacted ****************** and advised him Ameren ******** was following state guidelines by contacting animal control, and provided information for Ameren Illinois' third-party administrator, ******************.If ****************** chooses to file a claim, he may do so by contacting ****************** at **************.Given the above, Ameren Illinois considers this issue to be resolved and the complaint closed.Thank you,Ameren Illinois Regulatory AffairsReview from Miranda H

would give 0 stars if possible. Ameren is a monoply and they know it because they price-gouge and are charging insane amounts by "average usage" but my bill has only gotten higher despite raising AC temps, taking cold showers, etc. I've left almost every weekend to visit my parents and turned my AC off and everything was unplugged yet my "average usage" didn't reflect that. I've called 3 times now to get someone to check my meter but they refuse to send someone because "the meter is working perfectly fine" without ever physically seeing it. When I addressed my concerns about higher billing while using far less, i was told "it wasn't a concern" by the Manager, ********; she did not help and just blew me off. It is a huge concern when I can't afford my electric bill despite not using electric. I can't even change my service because they're the only ones here in ******, **. I Filed a complaint with the BBB; though I don't think that'll actually help now reading their 1 star review average with them as well as yelp.Ameren Response

I live in ********** BEVO MILL AREA called Ameren about my line making sparks on the side of the house when wether is bad and strong wind they send one person to tape it off said that would send truck to move line on the pool against my dance line so that is not capable sparking again Im still waiting been month and half I called my insurance and reported this in case something happens and I will call to report everywhere HORIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND EVERY FIRST THEY TAKE THEIR MONEY WITH NO PROBLEMAmeren Response

Ameren Electric Companies is unethical in their business practice forcing customers to provide their VERY private Social Security Number in order to get electricity for a private residence. The Privacy Act of 1974 is supposed to protect the collection and use of our private information, especially our SSN, and it is wrong and unethical of Ameren to insist that new customers provide it in order to receive *************************. We are well on our way to becoming a third-world country and our city, county, state, and federal governments need to stand up for right and protect their citizens from this unscrupulous behavior.Ameren Response

My house is less than 900 square ft. November and December 2022 my electric bill was $120. per month. Suddenly Ameren decided to start increasing my bill. In less than a year Ameren ******** has more than doubled my bill. Now it is $264.00 plus per month. When Ameren ******** tried to increase everyone's bill through the courts they were denied.......so what does Ameren ******** do?????? They add a lot of unnecessary fake charges as well as they put an outrageous price on Now what they label as Peak and Off Peak hours. Ameren ******** is a monopoly. When I questioned them about it they said nothing is wrong with the meter and basically that is the way it is........they are CROOKS. I have put a complaint in with **********************************.......We have watched Ameren ******** over a very short period of time over charge customers and they are allowed to do this.......why could it be that they pay the government so much so that they can continue to steal from customers.Ameren Response

Being as ameren is a monopoly i had no choice but to use them in my commercial space. I called about stopping service when I realized my landlord had not yet put the service in their name after i was out of the unit. I was told that my options were to have the electric completely shut off or have the landlord call them with a backdate for when i left the unit. When my landlord called they did not backdate it. So i contacted them again and was told that the first person i spoke with lied to me and they never backdate anything ever. So thanks to employees that either don't know their job or blatantly lie to costumers I'm stuck paying for electric in a unit that i had no access too.Ameren Response

I was enrolled in Peak Time Rewards as it says energy reductions can reap rewards. Well this month I was charged a $543 ******************** charge since peak time was April 2nd at 11am while I was at work and my teenager was home alone. This, very minimal electricity was being used. Yet, this resulted in a $543 charge. After speaking to seven representatives and finally a supervisor, I was told this charge was correct and the charge stands. So now my bill is $500 more this month than last month and the company is perfectly ok with this.Ameren Response

Someone in my apartment complex used the my address (the wrong address) to begin service and consequently closed my account for service. ********************** is claiming it is not their mistake and has now charged me for closing that account and will not refund me the money.Ameren Response

i have came to realize that after watching ameren work on my street that the leaders in charge have created there own monster of at least 5 workers watching one worker do his job our electric bill would be 1/3 of what is if those 5 men had a job to doAmeren Response
