On Friday 11/3/23 I visited Honda West to explore replacing my old Honda Civic with a newer model. I had a HORRIBLE experience! Following is a summary of the problems I had. 1. When I showed my KBB "Private Party Value" printout (for my 2007 Honda Civic EX with 174,779 miles) to a salesperson named Darryl ****, he told me that the quoted figure (of $4,317) was "inflated." Later, after verifying the accuracy of my information using the Internet, I concluded that Darryl’s statement to me was one of his attempts to be deceptive and dishonest. 2. The $16,999 "CARFAX Dealer Price" that Darryl gave to me for the 2015 Honda Civic LX was almost $3,000 higher than the "KBB Private Party Value" of $14,031. (which Darryl had called "inflated"). 3. Darryl refused to give me anything in writing that described the details of the financing for the 2015 Honda Civic LX (44,655 miles) that he tried to sell to me for $17,000. 4. I thought the 17.3 % APR on the financing offer was obnoxiously high, even with my relatively low credit score. 5. Darryl told me that "I could put the $1,600 down payment on a credit card." Doing such a thing would be an extremely stupid financial move for me, especially considering my small, fixed income from social security disability (SSD). 6. A monthly car payment of $490 is outrageous considering my small, fixed income from social security disability (SSD). 7. The total of the payments for Darryl's offer would be as follows: $490 x 60 = $29,400 + $1,600 (down payment) = $31,000! 8. Darryl offered me a $450 trade in value for my car. This was an INSULT considering my car has a KBB "Private Party Value" of $4,317! By treating customers like this, the sales force is going to keep customers (like me) very far away from Honda West!
