I bought a flight with Spirit Airline because it looked like a big deal. This is a mistake I will never make again. We ended up spending more than we would have with competing airlines because of all the nickel and diming on the way. We had to pay a fee per flight per seat selection. We had to pay for any carry on items. We checked one bag for $80. Instead of the usual weight limit of 50lbs, they have a limit of 40lbs, and charged us an extra $80 due to our luggage being 45lbs. Once on the flights, they charge for internet per flight, and they charge for any food or drinks, including water, coffee, soda. $6 for a small bottle of water. On the outgoing flight, our connection was delayed several times. This was annoying, but not a huge deal. On the way back home however, our initial flight was delayed for more than 2 hours, which meant the flight was now scheduled to land after the gates closed on our connecting flight. The agents at the spirit counter could not help us; she told us we needed to use the app to chat or call an agent by phone. So here we were at the airport going through security trying to understand our options. The chat was useless. The agent on the phone spoke broken English and only offered us an alternative flight that went way off course with an extra stop and an overnight layover, with no hotel voucher. Long story short, we stayed with our original flight, sprinted a half mile through the airport and miraculously made our connection right as they were closing the gates.But then! Our luggage didnt make it. They refused to deliver our bags to our home, even though we live within the ***** minute radius. I tried to set it up for them to deliver it instead to our friends home, and they simply stopped responding to me. My husband is blind and has his adaptive devices in that luggage sitting at the airport, but they will simply not respond, and will send the luggage to ******* if we dont arrive. F#** Spirit Air. Their flight was over 2 hours delayed. Per FAA guidelines and Spirits OWN rules and regulations, any delay over 2 hours I am owed a refund or flight credit (my choice). I am STILL waiting on a refund from a Jan 12th 2024 flight delay. I was told three separate chats over 3 months, that I would be refunded in 5-7 business days. Still no refund. Then when I contacted them on chat the representative LIED saying I cancelled my flight. When I showed screen shots of my previous chat conversations, the lying representative knew I caught them scamming and said you will be refunded in 5 to 7 business days. Staff was great with my Autistic brother. They provided great service getting him to his gate and to his seat! Weather cancelled multiple flights but staff was great at reorganizing it for him. He also got a seat near the front of the plane for people with disabilities. This was his first time and it went as best as possible despite the weather.Review from Ileana A

Spirit is a joke. I bought a seat on my original flight for both me and my partner and then bid for the bigger seats and won. Well, I expected to get that original money back that I paid for the original seats and they said no. So basically spirit is out here stealing peoples money. Claimed that it was considered and upgrade So dont bid on the seats because youll more than likely be paying more to sit there. I wont be flying with them ever again. I booked a flight for my daughter on my account. The system automatically changed her name to mine when processed but kept her date of birth and other information. When I called to correct it they said they cannot change the name and to cancel the flight. I went to cancel the $250 ticket and they said its $200 for the cancellation fee. They then said rebook the same flight but with her name. Did that and was told to pay $485 for that ticket. She got the ticket and went to the airport. Once there she was told its delayed 4 hours and you will miss your connecting flight in *******. They rebooked her flight from ******* for the next day at 7pm. Thats a 19 hour layover in the airport for my 18 year old daughter alone. They said the will give her a $7 meal voucher and a hotel voucher. She is 18 and cannot check into a hotel. They said they cannot help any other way to just cancel everything and rebook for a different day. Absolutely absurd and disgusting they way they handled the situation and too caught up on taking money!!Review from Lesley S

I missed my flight and they charged me a $100 change fee for a flight that was leaving in 18 minutes. When I got to the gate they told me they had removed me and shut the jetway door. They also told me I could not get my $100 back. These people are rude, very rude.Review from Nakeya M

I booked a flight, but needed to cancel it due to work related issues of the other person on the reservation. I talked to an in person representative and they reassured me that if I let them cancel the flight that I would be able to get a full or partial credit even though the credit online said I would only receive $6.76 dollars of flight credit back from my $300 flight. I messaged the chat representatives and they told me that it was misinformation and I would only receive the $6.76 dollars back . I called back to speak to a representative to see since its only been about ***** minutes since the flight was canceled, If I could get one of the flights back since the information was misleading and they said no. I hope that no one gets the same information I got . I will no longer listen to any representatives about flights or even use spirit airlines again . There should atleast be something they can do since Im out of money because of their mistake.Review from Marisol M

The most unprofessional crew at the gate. Went to the counter to ask a quick question and was ignored by two agents, even after asking if I could ask them a quick question. Since I was ignored the first time and the lady was Hispanic I proceeded to ask her in Spanish. She did not even lift her head up to acknowledge that I had spoken to her. Not to mention how bad passenger's from previous flight were treated. It was a total Chaos. Will not ever fly this airline again! Let’s start off by saying this has been the worst experience flying I have EVER had in my past 10 years of flying . For one I booked 2 one way tickets from Fll to ROC, or so I thought . The first $250 was only a “reservation fee” and that I had to pay the difference of $230 to confirm and actually “buy” the ticket . Of course I’m upset about this, but I pay the fee because I was literally at an Airbnb from doing a 7 day cruise with carnival and needed to get back home. I then arrive the next morning at 6am (fyi:flight isn’t until 7:55am) and I run into an issue with my luggage . Apparently the previous $480 that I spent did not include my 2 checked bags . At this point I’m trying to go through the line and pay with Apple Pay at the desk and they inform me they don’t have Apple Pay . Now I’m frantically trying to get money out of the atm that has posted that it’s tap to pay and it doesn’t work . I then shove my clothes into 1 suitcase and had to call customer service to pay for the bag over the phone because the option was not available online . After another 25 minutes on the phone everything is finally done . I get into line to give my bag up and go upstairs and in told I can’t load the plain because my luggage was too late . I was also told that I would have to pay an additional $99 per person to rebook my flight . I had a complete mental break down and nobody cared to help me make something work until I lost my mind and went crazy . Only until then did the boss make the change without the money . Everyone at the front counter were rude and had very disgusting attitudes. I would definitely NEVER recommend spirit to anyone. PLEASE RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN AWAY FROM THIS BOOKING THEY ARE MONEY HUNGER ********!!!!
