On April 29, 2022, Performance SLC and the CEO, Daniel Crenshaw entered into a Stipulated Judgment with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. The Judgment settles allegations that the defendants engaged in wrongful fee-charging practices and deceptive telemarketing, settled debts without the required consumer authorization and tricked certain consumers into enrolling into its debt-resolution services. Under terms of the Judgment, the Performance SLC is permanently enjoined from obtaining referrals from companies purporting to make or arrange loans, and agreed to pay redress in the amount of $10,448,467.90, however the full payment of this judgment may be suspended. Under terms of the Judgment, Crenshaw is banned from debt relief services for five years and is ordered to pay a civil penalty of $30,000.
