Travel/Vacation/Timeshare - Online Hotel Booking Scam

I called the number on the website that I believed was the number for the Hampton Inn. An AI voice bot took all my information (Clue: She reeled off long bits of policy without pausing to listen well for an answer as a normal person would). Clues she wasn't legit: Didn't take AAA. Didn't allow for cancellation a few days before--had to do a full night's deposit, etc. I asked if at the beginning she was from Hampton Inn and she said yes, she was from reservations. I asked if she was AI & she protested that she was a real person. When I tried to cancel the reservation, the first person said they didn't have it. The second one hung up on me. And the 3rd one said she'd try to cancel it after I told her I was reporting the company to you. However, the receipt (which showed my purchase in Russian rubles) indicated that I'd still be responsible for paying for a full night. After I realized I'd been scammed, I canceled my credit card and will challenge the charges. The number I called for help was the one listed as such on the website (very misleading): Hampton Inn & Suites Williamsburg Historic District 911 Capitol Landing Rd, Williamsburg, VA, 23185, US +1-757-991-0936

Business Name: ReservationCounter / ReservationDesk (TravelPass Group) Phone Number Used: 844-349-0563 Email Used: [email protected], [email protected] Type of Scam: Travel/Vacation Scam – Misrepresentation & Hidden Fees Description of Scam: I called 844-349-0563 after finding it online as the contact number for a Hampton Inn. The representative spoke as if they were the hotel’s front desk and never disclosed that they were a third-party reseller. I believed I was booking directly with the Hampton Inn. During the call, I asked about a military discount. The representative told me that the hotel would only be able to refund me the tax and that I would need to request the discount at check-in. When I arrived, the actual Hampton Inn staff informed me that the reservation had been made through Booking.com and that only Booking.com could apply a military discount. This confirmed that the representative misrepresented their identity and gave false information about hotel policies. I was also never told about a service fee at the time of booking. My bank flagged the charge as potential fraud, and when I contacted the company about the undisclosed fee, they refunded it the next day. After that refund, I received another email from [email protected] claiming they could not refund to my card and instructing me to accept a second refund through a third-party payout service called PayChoice. They also asked for my billing city and state. This refund method is unusual and appears to be an attempt to collect personal or financial information. I did not click any links or provide any information. I am reporting this due to the company’s deceptive business practices, misrepresentation as the hotel, failure to disclose fees, and suspicious refund request.

Travel/Vacation/Timeshare - Vacation TImeshare

On April 15, 2021, I received an unsolicited call from a marketing company representing Resort Beach Vacations promoting discounted vacation packages, especially offered during COVID-19, since business was very slow during a worldwide pandemic. After some negotiating, they sold me three (3) vacations that I could use any time within 6.5 years of purchase. Over the last two years, I have been attempting to redeem my vacations by calling numerous times to make my reservation for the first trip, but each time the phone just rings and eventually cuts off. I have emailed the customer service address on the website and on my certificate, but a year and a half later, I've still never received a response. I tried calling the number again today, but it's still not in working order. My AI tool Perplexity has indicated that the most relevant public references are on scam-warning and forum pages rather than an official site listing. One search result explicitly mentions “Resort Beach Vacations, resortbeachvacations.com, 855 732 4561,” which suggests that the domain and phone number have been discussed together online. A separate review/validator page for the domain says “This is a scam. Do not use this service,” though that is an unverified consumer-opinion source rather than a formal regulator finding. I am lost as to what recourse I may have at this time. Please advise.

Travel/Vacation/Timeshare - Travel/Vacation

I used Trivago to try and book an upcoming flight to Myrtle Beach. It sent me to a site called Farehutz. I booked a cheap flight and a representative named Kairo later called me saying that there were no seats left at that price and that I would need to pay $166 more per person to upgrade. When I tried to cancel, he said that the tickets were non-refundable. I got a potential fraud alert from my bank and locked my credit card.

After paying for a round trip ticket, Alex stated that the ticket was confirmed and that he would send the confirmation code to us 2 weeks before the flight. About 7 days before the flight we were notified that it was double booked and the amount ($298) would be refunded. 5 days before the flight we received a phone call saying that he was trying to refund the money but the credit card would not accept. He would have to try charging some small amounts to verify the account. After trying about 15 times to a tune of over $1,510.00 I finally said I would going to call the credit card and dispute the charges. At that exact time a charge for over $30,000.00 was trying to go thru. The credit card disputed the $1,510 and the $30,000 never showed up. The credit card is also disputing the $298 for the ticket that we never received. DO NOT USE CHEAP FLYING FARES!!

Travel/Vacation/Timeshare

Just today I googled the number I used and saw identical phone number from a victim in California ho got nothing back on their vrbo. On Marxh 11 I signed onto Finnair.com- Saw a phone number for "customer service and booking, called it, spoke with Spencer, who told me when I asked if he was a Finnair agent he said they work for multiple airlines, phones ring over to them and they help with booking. So he told me our price for two international tickets included aisle seats and one checked bag and I would get an email within a few days. Well I had to call after a few days as o had nothing and when I got the first email, only short flight info was on it. He told me he would resend next day- Which didn't happen.. I called next day again and asked for supervisor. Expressed my frustration at delay- he told me email with tickets would be sent and that due to delays etc, would see that we had extra leg room at least on short flight. Finally, after more calls including two other supervisors, w were rude and abrupt, on 4/15 we rec's our intonerary and tickets numbers (no bar code) so over a month after we paid. Then I felt uncomfortable )as I should have immediately) as we had nothing showing 1chexked bag( which we paid for) and aisle seats(also paid for). Was told by the first supervisor I had talked to not to worry and to check with airport day before and we would see there's a checked bag and "if for some reason when you arrive and have to pay, call us and we will reimburse you the cost.. My husband kept saying we will be paying but I had never booked our own tickets- but travel agents no longer do this- only if a cruise or tour. Anyway this past Monday Eve 5/18, after receiving reminder from Finnair about upcoming trip, I went to AA website, viewed details, updated emergency contact, then chatted online w agent asking about no prod of bag we paid for and no aisle seats proof, Finally, their scam was exposed to me. Thankfully we have actual tickets, he asked what we paid for those seats and the bag- well another red flag he said, they don't produce an itemized statement, making it harder to recover costs. They also tell you to wait till day before. And the delays in email gets them past the 60 day mark for credit card to give refunds. So he told me to contact credit card company next day and start fraud claim. And he said if we call them from airport to be reimbursed they will have blocked our number or will hang up. But when I saw the same number show up on your website. Let's hope they are shut down! We are lucky to have our tickets And he said don't call them again because they could have still cancelled our tickets!!! I live in Lincoln Nebraska When I asked their name and where they were located he said Delaware but on our phone statement it only says toll free call. And yes we have started a fraud claim. I forwarded emails and I also had jotted down dates and time and every person I talked to. So we will see what happens!!
