Description

On March 31, 2025 I made an online reservation through expedia.com. I also purchased trip insurance at that time. My booking said free cancellation until May 26, 12:01 AM. On May 13, I called a toll-free number found on Google that I believed was expedia.com (1-866-674-9210) and spoke with Christian. I was told that in order to cancel my reservation he would be charging a $200 cancellation fee. He did have some of my reservation information so I was not suspicious and gave him my credit card number, although I did argue with him that I should not be charged a cancellation fee because I had taken out the insurance. While on the phone with him, I received a text from my bank asking if I was authorizing a $200 charge. I told Christian that I really wanted to decline it but he said “ ma’am, that’s entirely up to you, but if you decline, then you will not receive your refund. So I approved it with my bank. The phone call with Christian lasted one hour and 10 minutes. A few days later, I became suspicious and on May 16 I found another phone number on Google for expedia.com and called that number (1-866-310-5768) and spoke with Mel. She checked status and said my booking was still active and that I had been scammed. I gave her the phone number I had called on May 13 and she said it was not affiliated with expedia.com. I asked her to hold the reservation On May 17, I called that number again and asked Ramez to cancel reservation. I also called Bank of America and filed a dispute. A merchant credit of $599.14 was credited to my account. That amount is minus the $34.03 trip insurance. Also on May 17, Bank of America informed me that they temporarily credited my account $200 while they work to resolve the dispute directly with the merchant. I have not received any further information from my bank regarding the $200. I would like to save others from this very harrowing experience that I recently went through. The following 4 toll free numbers are affiliated with this scam: 1-866-674-9210/ 1-888-978-8481/ 1-844-324-7011/ 1-855-365-8031. The following five email addresses are affiliated with this scam: [email protected] Itinerary@ reservationsdesk.org Reservations@ ticketingdesk.us Itinerary@ ticket itinerary.com [email protected] The scammer called himself Christian, which is atrocious because no Christian would do this to people. I would appreciate yourlooking into this matter, and also the fact that the information was on Google. I recently saw a news segment on people getting scammed by going into fake sites that are listed on Google. A woman was just scammed by who she thought was Amtrak and it was on the news last week. Sometimes it is very difficult to know who is genuine and who is fake on-line. Thank you for your attention in this matter.
