Description
I called a phone number which I thought was a Spectrum customer service number (1-888-847-0467) in order to set up an internet connection for my new laptop. I was transferred to a tech support rep who tried to help me set up WiFi, but was unsuccessful. He then suggested that I go with fiber optics for my internet connection. I eventually learned that I was not speaking to someone from Spectrum, but from Sara Plus (a contractor/subcontractor for AT&T), especially after I was told I would have a separate bill. I was sent a text from the rep, in which I began to provide information (e.g. date of birth/social security number). I also gave the rep my full name, phone number, and address. However, I began to suspect fraud, and thus never finished the order. Soon afterwards, I got in touch with a real Spectrum customer service agent, who not only resolved the WiFi issue but suspected that the Sara Plus company was illegitimate. After conducting an online search, I found mixed results. Thus, I am asking if this company is legitimate or a fraudulent group, especially since I gave them my personal info- full name, address, phone number, date of birth, and social security number. I hope my personal info for the purpose of identity theft or other illegal activity. If you wish to contact me, please feel free to do so at 270-686-1348 or [email protected]. Thank you for your consideration. Andrew J. Linn
