Description

I received a text message on my phone from a number I didn't know asking if it was me. I asked them who was asking and they responded that they were Lisa Read, HR manager at Volaris Group, my resume had been examined by the head of the organization, and they were impressed with my qualifications and experience. They said they believed I could be a valuable addition to their team and asked if I was open for a job offer. They provided a list of available positions and their pay rates and asked which I'd be interested in. They told me they offered one week of paid training and the schedule would be 7 hours a day. They said I'd been selected for an online interview with them via Microsoft Teams. They said it was conducted via instant messaging so that it could be completed from anywhere, at any time, even on the go. Then they asked if I had it set up or if I could set it up for the interview. I told them I already had Microsoft Teams installed and was familiar with it. They asked for my email, I provided it, and they told me to check my messages on Microsoft Teams. I opened up Teams and responded to their message and they said they had 5 sets of questions to ask for the interview. They told me to number my responses so that I didn't lose track of where I was at. I answered all 5 sets of questions and they told me that my responses would be forwarded to their team and they would discuss who they would be offering positions to. They told me to check Teams at 8am to find out if I was selected or not. I opened Teams and received a message congratulating me for being selected. They proceeded to tell me that I would get paid via check for my first 2 weeks and then I would need a checking account from a traditional bank in order to get paid via direct deposit. I told them I would open an account that afternoon. They asked if I was comfortable with paying for the materials I would need to do the job and being reimbursed at the end of my first week. I asked them what materials were needing to be purchased and they sent me a list. A Macbook Pro, a 27" monitor, a desk, a keyboard, a mouse, a noise cancelling headset, Norton or Mcafee, and some programming software. They said if I was comfortable with paying it, they would send me a list of their certified vendors. I told them that if it were truly a job offer and the job was completely remote, it would be a requirement that I have those things already, or I would be required to procure those things but not from their "certified vendors." I received no message after I said that.
