Scam information

This content is based on victim and potential victim accounts. Government agencies and legitimate business names and phone numbers are often used by scam artists to take advantage of people.

Description

I had a interview on Micorsoft Teams with a hiring manager (Justin McCarthy). He explained the job and asked a few questions. Told me I got the job and said they would be sending me money to buy the equipment needed for the job. He had me send a pic of the check when it came. He also wanted a pic of the deposit receipt. I had some problems with my debit card (thank god I did), then was told to take it to the teller. I did. I asked the teller when the funds would clear. He made a phone call to the place where the check was drawn from and then told me that the banking information belonged to someone else. So I took pics of the checks and envelopes that they were sent in from. The teller advised to report it to the BBB.
