I received an email offering a “Data Entry Clerk” position from a company called “Talent Vibe Solutions.” The email claimed that my application was successful and instructed me to proceed with their two-step onboarding process. The first step involved running a credit report through a third-party link they provided, stating it would cost $1 for a 7-day access period. They claimed the purpose of this was to assess financial trustworthiness, even though I hadn’t been interviewed or formally hired. The email specifically mentioned that the credit score wouldn’t disqualify me, but still required me to submit the report. I did not follow through with this step after researching and finding that this process is a common tactic used by job scammers to steal personal information or money. The email came from a suspicious email address linked to Lever, a legitimate job application platform, but it appeared to be spoofed or misused by the scammer. Upon further investigation, I found that others had received similar messages from the same source, confirming that this was indeed a scam. This description avoids any personal info and provides enough detail to help others recognize the scam. Let me know if you’d like to adjust or add anything else!
