Description

My garage door tension cable broke and my door would not close or open. So I called the first business that popped up on my search engine. Master garage door arrived within 3 hours to fix the door and one thing led to another, they told me that the initial fix would only last 2 years tops. but I believed it because my door is over 20 years old. Next thing you know, they quoted me just over $4000 for a new door and a machine. They came the later in the day to measure the door. Once the quote was finalized, they sent me an invoice and was told i had to pay $3000 up front because it was a custom door. They were very aggressive and my door had a hole in the corner so i was desperate to fix it sooner than later. Once i have confirmed the payment via e-transfer (It honestly didn't click to me why I didn't ask to pay by credit card). They said it would be a week because they would have to order the door. Now 10 days later, they don't pick up my phone call. After doing some research, all signs led to them being a fake business. No physical address of the business, unidentifiable/fake website, no uniforms or logo on the truck. They did not provide a copy of the estimate and was aggressive and pressured to pay up front. A huge lesson learned on my part but I hope this helps for people who are looking to get any physical work done to think twice and receive multiple quotes before going ahead and beware of these websites who pay for SEO (search engine optimization) because it will be the first convenient website to come for an initial visit at a very low cost. The person who came to my house, his name is Shay (********) and his boss's name is James. They showed up in a grey truck without any company logo, just some tools. The worst thing is that Shay knew how to fix the door. Hope none of you guys fall for this scam.
