Description
I went to file for an EIN for my new business and google search brought up the https://irs-ein.org website in it's top searches! I filled out the form, submitted what I thought was the required payment and received a fake confirmation email from this address: [email protected]. And then I received a fake EIN from this address: [email protected]. That address was suspicious to me so I did more research and realized I didn't need to pay ANYTHING for an EIN, and that I had been duped by a fake IRS site. I felt like an idiot. I reported the charge as fraud with my credit card. Hope no one else falls for this fake IRS website like I did.
