Description

The scammer contacted me first via text, using a gmail address. Then, they informed me about a job offer - scheduling me for an immediate interview the same day. The interview was over Microsoft Teams chat for several hours - and also on the next day. They sent a phony one-page contract, requested ID, and then asked me to attend "orientation" on the upcoming Monday. They could not get the times straight, the info in the contract was inconsistent to the info in the chat, and the interview questions they submitted in the chat were quite unusual. They asked odd interview questions and there were over 20 questions. In addition, they stated they would send me a "check" (before my first day of work) to cover my equipment fees. When I asked to speak with them by phone on that Monday, I started to get the run-around, and they referred me to another person who wanted to only chat as well. Interestingly, I had applied to this company (Sutter Health) for employment but, I noticed the email they sent to my gmail account did not include any of that businesses contact information - they were using the logo but did not have the other information listed. I finally contacted the business to find out they did not have anyone by that name working for them.
