We were approached by a man, Cord Johnson, with an adorable little puppy while we were enjoying a few drinks at the Free Roam Brewing Company on Main Street in Boerne while we were on a weekend get away for our anniversary. We commented on how cute the puppy was and Cord gave us a sad story about how this female was the last pup left and is looking for a good home. He asked us if we wanted to hold her for a few minutes while he gets a drink from the bar. I said ok and noticed, after 15 minutes or so, that Cord was sitting with a group of friends (some of who worked at the bar) drinking and hanging out. We ended up having to take the puppy to Cord as he was sitting with friends. He kept asking if we want the pup but we told him we'd have to think about it. He told us if we put a deposit down (in the amount of $500), he could hold her until we made a decision and if we decided not to take the pup, he would refund our money. The next day we went back to the Free Roam Brewing Company where Cord had his truck parked all day the day before but he was nowhere to be found. When we arrived back at home in New Braunfels later that day, we texted Cord to let him know that we decided we can't take the puppy and asked for our deposit back, as he had promised us. He told my husband, via text message, that he would have the money back in our account less any bank fees for the transaction. After a few days, my husband texted him again asking about the refund and Cord told him that he couldn't refund us our money until someone else purchased the puppy. He asked for our Venmo info and he would refund the money there. We didn't here from Cord Johnson anymore after that and he continues to ignore our phone calls and texts to this day.
