This is a grocery delivery service that advertised on an EBT/food stamp website. I tried this service because it claimed that they take food stamps. I spent 2 hours making an order. Nowhere in the website or during the ordering process did it say a credit card was mandatory until the final page, and then it said my card would not be charged, it was just a backup, so I put my card number in. I had already specified that the tip would be paid in cash at the door. I had more than enough money on my EBT account to pay for the order, but they tried to charge my card anyway! There was absolutely no reason for the charge! I keep my cards frozen for this reason. It was an open charge, meaning they could come back in and change it to whatever amount they wanted, when I owed them nothing to begin with. I contacted the company after I cancelled my order asking why they did that. They said they do that with everyone who uses food stamps to make sure they pay. 2 falsehoods here: 1. That is discriminatory! Apparently they think that people who pay with an EBT card are lower class citizens. 2. Every retailer knows that an EBT card can be trusted more than any credit card in the world because of they don't have that balance, that transaction is not going through! There is no chance of the retailer losing money, it's either approved or declined. They tried to charge my card for no other reason but to make money off of me that they were not entitled to!
