Mid november 2024 while trying to reestablish insurance through marketplace health insurance online number listed as marketplace contact directed me to a, yet to be identified entity that enrolled me in a none marketplace insurance multi plan. They clearly represented themselves as marketplace insurance. After several weeks, it became evident that this was not a marketplace plan. I made over twenty calls, leaving my name and contact number, to the number I was given at time of enrollment. They would not return my call. When I contacted the insurance company, they claimed no connection to whomever sold me the insurance. The entity took my debit card number and continued to withdraw money from my bank account for 3 months. None of the contact numbers would ever lead back to the broker. The health insurance claimed they could not facilitate canceling the policy and could not provide a name number or entity for who sold me the insurance. I had to go to my bank and cancel the card in order to keep them from continuing to withdraw money. I believe this practice to be predatory and intentionally misleading. This could have been even worse if it had not been outside of open enrollment, as I would've been out of compliance with virginia marketplace insurance. I believe this practice, and this company should be investigated and my money should be returned. This was indeed not a virginia marketplace plan. When doing online search for marketplace health insurance, many of these numbers represent themselves as virginia marketplace and do not reveal that they i deed are not. I have called other numbers, i found online, and they also turned out to just be brokers, trying to sell a plan. After being called for a updated credit card number today and speaking with the national enrollment center, I was refused a supervisor a manager as well as a corporate contact number to resolve this. I was hung up on 4 times intentionally. As they are intentionally restricted, it appears to provide valuable information to resolve this. On the fifth call, the representative eventually gave me a number claiming to be the corporate contact, which turned out to be wrong 3. Following calls, each rep. claimed they don't have access to a corporate number. When pressed for the number, all three agents hung up on me. I stated I wanted to file a complaint with the national enrollment center specifically. The response was, sir. Your cancellation request has been processed and you will have to wait for the email. I stated that was not the purpose of my call. I wanted the contact information above a manager or a supervisor. I clearly asked directly for a corporate contact number and I was refused and then hung up on. These reps seem to be coached by someone to provide the information they gave to me. As there were many pauses in the calls. Each rep was evasive when asked questions. I asked directly if these calls were saved and recorded or transcribed form the representative avoided directly answering the question, clearly asked three different times and out of frustration eventually hung up on me. An eighth call back N7 minutes. The rep did disclose that there would be a transcribed or recorded record of all the calls. And when pressed about the corporate contact, he too, then hung up.
