Description
I contacted the corgi breeder called Ridgeway Corgis, via their website, for information on a puppy named Navy. The breeder responded, via text and email, saying the puppy was available with three pictures and three videos of the puppy. We started arrangements, via email. The price of the corgi was $900 with a $200 transportation fee for a total of $1,100. The breeder, Terry Davis, wanted the full amount upfront, but I wanted to speak to the breeder, via facetime first. We scheduled the facetime for the next day, but the breeder canceled the call the next day because of a schedule conflict. The breeder, Terry Davis, did email me a purchase order with the breeder's physical address, name, and more information for the puppy. In order to transport the puppy for Friday of that week, January 17, 2025, the breeder asked for the full amount of $1,100. I advised that I would pay a deposit, but not the full amount until I spoke to the breeder. The breeder agreed for me to pay 60% of the amount ($660), via Zelle, to his wife's name, Xiaoyun Huang. I Zelled the $660 and scheduled the Facetime for the next day. The breeder asked for a copy of the payment receipt of the Zelle transfer. I even called my bank to expedite sending the Zelle payment because the breeder was pressuring me to avoid delay of the transportation reservation of the puppy. Again, the breeder, Terry Davis, advised they had a schedule conflict and canceled the call, but advised that if we didn't want to delay the scheduled transportation of the end of that week, I needed to Zelle the additional $440. I Zelled the additional $440 to Xiaoyun Huang to the email address of [email protected]. The breeder, Terry Davis, emailed me a copy of the puppy's health certificate with vaccination information, a vet name, but no vet address or contact number. The breeder used a transportation company called Tail Wag Transport at tailwagtransport.com, and sent me the company's information and contact name of Chris Smith. I will be filing a separate fraud report on this company. Chris Smith, from Tail Wag Transportation emailed me with a invoice stating the puppy was at Phoenix Airport the day of delivery, but stated a fully reimbursable insurance fee of $940 needed to be paid before the puppy could be transported to Richmond International Airport (RIC). I tried to contact the breeder, but was only able to email. After much back and forth, via email, I Zelled the $940 to the same name and email address. We drove over an hour to RIC on January 17, 2025 for pickup of the puppy. At the meeting time, Chris Smith advised that another $1365 was needed to clear the puppy at RIC or the puppy would be put in quarantine. At that point, I refused to pay any additional money until I saw the puppy or spoke directly to the breeder. At that point, I realized the contact number for Tail Wag Transportation was the same number as the breeder's phone number for Terry Davis. After I threatened legal action and requested my money back, I never heard from Terry Davis or Chris Smith again.
