This content is based on victim and potential victim accounts. Government agencies and legitimate business names and phone numbers are often used by scam artists to take advantage of people.
I have received several messages from SDP on my personal cellphone, alluding to a legal matter - "an attempt will be made to issue certified legal documents requiring your signature". I recognized it as a scam and did not pick up. I could find and think of no incidents where I would be getting served paperwork - but figured if it was legitimate (which seemed insane) I would find out when served. Today they called my work and left this same message. At this point I felt that I needed to call to state to them that they could not call my workplace. Just to get that on the record. Which I did. SDP, phone number: 833-395-2175 This connected me to a 'lawfirm' Wexford and Associates. I was then connected with Joseph Jimenez who stated that I have an outstanding debt with Wachovia. (Which merged with Wells Fargo in 2010) I do not and told him that. I asked him to send me a hardcopy of any information he had and asked who SDP was. He stated they were their process server. I asked if process servers usually call instead of just serving people. He became annoyed and hung up on me. I called him back to ask for the physical address of his company.and his name: Wexford and Associates 10940 Wilshire Blvd Los Angeles 90024 Before hanging up on me again he threatened me by stating that he would be serving these papers to my work since I was being so rude. I looked up all of this information and it was conveniently very generic with no real trace of this lawyer and an office building in LA that has 'remote' offices for $75.00.
