Our company recently identified a fraudulent activity involving fake invoices submitted by a supposed U.S. Office & Industrial Supply. These invoices falsely claimed the delivery of materials and items that were never ordered, received, or authorized by our organization. The fraudulent invoices were designed to appear legitimate by using our company name and information, along with information about some of our employees. It appears the perpetrators obtained this information to mimic authentic transactions, aiming to bypass our standard verification processes. Upon review, discrepancies in the invoice details, including mismatched item descriptions and lack of purchase orders, exposed the scheme. Immediate steps were taken to ensure no payments were issued for these fraudulent claims.
