This content is based on victim and potential victim accounts. Government agencies and legitimate business names and phone numbers are often used by scam artists to take advantage of people.
They contact you, presenting a 'great' job opportunity, claiming to have reviewed your resume/profile and moving swiftly through interviews, contracts, onboarding, and requesting sensitive documents like your social security, W4, and I9. Then, they ask you to purchase equipment—computer, iPad, phone—to mail to them before starting your remote role. None of this is legitimate. It's a scam, and the official Japanese company’s website has now posted a disclaimer warning others to stay alert.
