Scam information

This content is based on victim and potential victim accounts. Government agencies and legitimate business names and phone numbers are often used by scam artists to take advantage of people.

Description

I was intending to apply for a passport, and when researching where to do it online, clicked the first thing that popped up, which was myusatraveldocs.org. I realized later that there is small print expressing that the site is unaffiliated with the government and their service does not actually provide physical passports, but the website is designed to be misleading, and I went through the whole process and provided information such as my SSN, name, address, parents' names and places of birth, and debit card information. I received an email confirmation/receipt, realized that I didn't buy what I meant to buy, and began to realize that a website I didn't know much about had all my personal information.
