My niece contacted me about an email response to her resume submission for an entry level pharmaceutical rep job. The associated web site is ventivhealthcare.com - supposedly Ventiv Health Systems or Ventiv Health, Inc - both of which existed at one time but became a different company and then merged into yet a third company called Syneos Health. I began checking out the website, company, and linkedin profile of the "sender" and found indications that it was not legit. After further investigation I discovered that they are using a company name that should no longer be in use, the website was a quick-and-dirty hack with some mistakes and a non-functional "contact us" form. SSL certificate has zero organizational info init it and is only valid from August - November of 2024. The LinkedIn profile of the "sender" is also fake - photo is stock photo, job history is fake, person does not exist. I suspect this is a long play to either gather sufficient data for identify theft or will quickly turn into some sort of request for fees to "secure the job". I advised my niece to not reply to the email - they already have whatever information they could glean from her resume (so probably email, phone, address, education, job history, professional certifications). I reported the fake profile to LinkedIn.
