Description

I contracted Ameri Auto Transport and spoke with Jason Brown via text and email to haul my vehicle from Florida to Indiana due to Hurricane Milton and me having to leave my car behind to get home. My original price quote was $400 with a deposit of $150. I was contacted by Jason Brown that we had a pick up date but unfortunately the driver did not have the proper credentials to transport my vehicle and immediately sent me screenshots of the contract stating I would need to pay an additional $250 dollars in order to schedule pick up and I only had 1 hour to make a decision. He kept sending me screenshots of the contract and a very strong arm way, which I felt I had no choice since getting my deposit back was probably not going to happen and I needed my car returned to me since this was my wife's primary vehicle for work and child transport. I went ahead and agreed to the additional $250 out of fear of not getting my car back but when the driver delivered the vehicle, Jason Brown started texting me to ONLY pay cash and let the driver know it was mandated by Jason Brown with Ameri Auto Transport and to call him. I found this to be very sketchy and unprofessional, which also made me question the additional cost and the the validity of the reasons behind it. When I had to electronically sign the bill of lading at payment, I had to mark Paid in Full and noticed the other vehicles on the car carrier where also coming from Florida, going to Milwaukee but were the price I was originally quoted. I feel like the overall experience was a bait and switch to take advantage of the situation and I would like everyone else to know so they can prepare themselves for a potential negative situation when using James Brown and Ameri Auto Transport in the future.
