This content is based on victim and potential victim accounts. Government agencies and legitimate business names and phone numbers are often used by scam artists to take advantage of people.
The scammer reached out about a fake job posting I had applied for and provided me with an assessment to fill out with "screening and interview questions." Two days later, they reached out again with a full job offer (with no interview? yeah, right!) and asked for name/address/contact info and claimed that "a check will be mailed for you to use to help wet up your workspace," so it's a check fraud scam at the end of the day.
