Our healthcare clinic received a fax with the name of RR Medco, LLC asking for one of our provider's signatures so they could send a patient, whom they said reached out to them (the pt denies calling) fpr an expensive piece of durable medical equipment. This would be charged through and paid for by the patient's Medicare. I called the number they had listed on the form, 442-221-0174, and spoke to a young lady who stated they only send these when the pt requests. I told her the pt denied requesting. She said, "That's why we include the QR code so you can scan it and listen to the phone call." I gave her the date of birth and first name only of the patient and she stated she could not locate it and started asking for social and other identifying numbers. I told her the phone call was finished. I hung up and attempted to scan the QR code. It is a system you must pay to listen to so I did not go any further. This company, or someone pretending to be this company, is trying to scam insurance for equipment not ordered for the patient.
