Description
Searched for the best deal on plane tickets on www.cheapflights.com. One of the listed sites was FoggyFly.com, which had the best price. Verified all disclosures and restrictions (of which there were none) on Delta "Basic Economy" tickets. Filled out the passenger information and purchased the tickets for $708.28 (with the understanding that, once purchased, the tickets were non-refundable). Several hours later, I was contacted both by email and phone, stating that the tickets I had purchased were "Basic Economy Restricted" class, which not only does not include any checked bags or seat selection (which I of course wanted, and checked for in the restrictions), but does not even allow the option of purchasing these as upgrades (I have subsequently verified with Delta that there is no such restriction and purchasing the upgrades is always an option). The FoggyFly.com representative told me that, if I wanted those things, They would have to charge me an additional $881.71, making the total cost $1589.99 (more than double the original price. When I refused this and informed them that they did not disclose these restrictions to me prior to purchase, they attempted to tell me that I had agreed to terms prior to purchase that prevented them from refunding the money (even though they hadn't provided me with tickets yet and still haven't). There were no such terms displayed either prominently, in fine print, or otherwise (they went so far as to walk through the website with me and were unable to show where they were). They offered to book different (more expensive) flights instead, but none were even close in price or workable for my needs. They tried to pressure me to make a decision on the spot, saying that the other flights could only be held for half an hour or an hour (depending on who I was talking to), and tried to tell me "you're getting tickets at 40% off, what did you expect?" (or "60% off", again, depending on who I was talking to), and that a refund was not going to happen. I told them that I would contact them if I needed them any more. I will be stopping the charge through my credit card company.
