Description
Our nonprofit charitable organization in Michigan received an email purporting to be from a woman whose husband had died leaving behind his beautiful 3-year old Yamaha baby grand piano (retail about $12,000) and she wanted to donate it to someone who could appreciate it. Replaying to the email, the "woman" further stated she was moving to France in two weeks, having minor surgery in the next two days, but that the piano was in the custody of Metroleads Logistics in Little Rock, AR, and she provided a reference number to be used to claim the piano. Online research revealed at least two other BBB scam reports that appeared to be virtually identical, so the company was never contacted. Their website is elaborate but appears to be AI generated. The Arkansas Secretary of State has no record of this company, nor does the common carrier division of the Arkansas Department of Transportation. Furthermore, the telephone number is listed as an unpublished number in Nashville, AR, over 100 miles from Little Rock.
